    The Bikes Gears

Would it be a good idea or a bad idea To take the gear sprockets and incase them In a plastic or metal cover To atempt To help protect the prockets. Of course, you woul build it To be detached and re attached easily. This cover would stay clear from moveing parts, it seems more realistic To do it with the front gears. The back would be more dificult because of the deraileur. I doubt I would personaly use this design but others may like it. This idea just poped In my head so dont laugh cuz it does sound kinda wierd. But please consider this idea.

not really, i was thinking about a full box covering and enclosing the sprockets... its a dead idea, i was thinking more about the design and materials, to much trouble and weight

You mean a gear case? These appeared on the market around 115 years ago and depending on where you are in the world they're either common or rare.
