Alfine/Nexus for weight touring?
So for loaded touring/bikepacking.. going as light as possible would either of these hubs stand up to the load? I know a Rohloff will but exploring options.

I've used 2 Alfine 8's for loaded touring, trail riding and beach/snow riding in a couple Pugsleys. They have seen a lot of abuse and never complained.
I used an A11 for a year of bikepacking and some trail riding. I had no issues with it either, but the test period wasn't nearly as extensive as I had with my A8's so I'm not as confident in it.
I had a spare Rohloff I laced up which I am using on the bike that had the A11 wheel. Had I not had the extra IGH I would have kept using the A11. I had no reason to stop using it. I suspect the A11 will get put onto a bikepacking rig for my GF sooner or later.

The hub shell is plenty strong enough to cope with extra weight on the bike & the load on the gears is determined by the power of the rider & the gearing.
So, what front & rear sprockets are you thinking you will need ?
