    Hey tracer owners!

Anyone tried the Big Hit factory rebuilt by PUSH on your tracers?

I'm planning on pushing the shock on my Intense as soon as I get my bike built!

vaya pues yo también tengo una tracer vp, color blanco, y llevo 3 bonitos tornillos de titanio en el 5º metacarpiano de la mano izquierda, ya totalmente recuperada eso sí.

I 'was' going to do it, but for the price they charge ($185.00); I was able to find a 3-months old Manitou ISX-6 shock, so I went that way. The ride on my '09 Tracer just got 100 times better with the Manitou.

    Just my 2c.

Tardé 4 meses en poder montar con cierta seguridad y sin molestias.
A los 3 meses ya hice intentos y pequeñas salidas.

That will most certainly void your warranty, and will probably set you up for a broken frame. Besides, your bike would ride like junk, it would throw the geometry so out of whack it wouldn't even be worth it.

the forks had a +ve/-ve air chamber leak, they would suck down when trying to set the +/- preasure.
As for the SX wheesl the hubs are like cheese, set of bearings in both wheels plus the front axle aseembely was damaged in a bike bag by bagage handlers, not a design fault but it took 3weeks for mavic to send one, plus the first one sent was the wrong type, so not imprerssed with there cusomer service.

    Btw
Has anyone sufered creaking pivots, from new it creaked like hell, the LBS stripped the entire bike down and regreased everything, gone now but was just wonder

I've got a creak but I don't think it's the pivots. I've been chasing them also. Seatpost...Check! Seat rails...Check! Pivots greased...Check! Only happens when I shift to a harder gear. Not sire what to check next. Any ideas?

Headset, bar clamp, BB, pedals, spoke tension, freehub, chainring bolts. Anything you can tighten could creak.

Hey Thanks TOU! Nah, these are Talas 32's Fit RLC with tapered steerer!
I wouldn't really need a bigger fork for where I ride..so The light fox 32 was a great choice so far!

    My first post here...

Your bike looks great! Can you post a few more (...better) pics?

I bought a white frame (it's in USA waiting to be shipped to Chile) and I told the dealer not to include a Talas 32 in the package since black is the only available color, white ones can be found on Ebay Germany at reasonable price.
But now, looking at your white frame w/ black fork and parts I think black Talas looks actually better.

Hola!

Hi! I'm glad you guys liked the bike! I still don't have it in my hands (I have to finish paying it!) thta's why I haven't taken better shots of it. But I will soon have them taken! I was gonna install a white fox 32 as well, but the shops owner convinced me that a black one would look even cooler! And thats why I went with all black parts too! I think it makes it look even cleaner!

    Hi dhbomber...

Great/Nice Bike! We have similar set-up and got talas 32's on my small tracer. XT groupset, ZTR Flow rims with Chris King hubs. I suggest you install hydraulic seatpost if you ride more technical and downhill....got KS and i like it. Btw, what hubs are you using?

Thank you tracery that is very kind!
I using Hope pro II's...Chris Kings would bump up the final price of the bike considerably..so I went with hopes...They are awesome!
I really don't need an adjustable seatpost...the trails around here are not that steep..
So I prefer not having 1 pound of extra seatpost weight!

Hey, it seems my fork will arrive before your pics I finally ordered it in Black thanks to that pic

By the way, I've read here that Large sizes have a steeper (is that a word?) head angle than other sizes so I ordered a talas 32 with straight 1-1/8 steerer so I can use an Angleset. I'm more an XC than AM rider ... do you guys with a Large tracer recommend it?

I am 1.71 meters....I could get away with riding a small...but I like a longer top tube The small really felt cramped...And it had a 100mm stem...I'm riding an 80mm right now, and it really feels spot on!

    Looks great mate !!!
Now that you posted these pics I'm more convinced that a black fork was the right choice for a white frame

And my trusty Sag tool...I found on the trail...go figure!
Very nice setup...I just ordered a 10 speed cassette, shifter, chain and rear derailleur. I also ordered the Haven carbon bar as well.
Hopefully in April, there will be a new 2011 Lyrik on mine instead of the Revelation
It should be done after that...I hope it doesn't add too much weight either.

Thanks BlueRidgeRider! I'm really enjoying the 10 speed setup! It really feels effortless. I'm using eastons Havoc bars....they are quite wide, but I got used to them on the first ride! They feel super comfy!

So far the Reverb has been great! It's my first dropper post so I have nothing else to compare it too, but there is no play and it operates very smooth and fast.

Thanks! Mostly the same trails when the climbing isn't too long, but just faster going down

I'm looking to hit some of the lift access trails with her this year as well!

Edit: BTW, the GT40 blue is hot!

Back at ya! I love that baby blue color. My tracer vp is my attempt at creating my ultimate dream bike. It brings me smiles every time I look at it or take it for a ride. Like yours, it's the one I take when I'm looking to try out something a bit more technical or fun going downhill.

As you see it, it is exactly 27.2 pounds with the 2.25 Ardent on the front, and a 2.25 Aspen on the rear.
Could lose a bit more weight if I switched to lighter wheels...maybe a pair of Easton Haven carbon hoops

Thanks Invol2ver ! I am loving the elka, my personal opinion its even better than the ccdb! I enjoy the simplicity and how it performs on the track . I am still struggling to find the perfect tuning for the Zocchi though.

    Hi Awai04,
Thank you very much. Actually, when i was building my tracer, i want to have a robust All Mountain build and look. In the end, i choose Talas 32 instead of Talas 36....coz i think Talas 36 is too much. I've post one photo of a trail we have here....this Tracer won't let you down on uphill or downhill.,,,,Awesome Bike!!!

Has anyone tried throwing on a 170mm Lyrik fork? I am feeling lazy and I don't want to add the 10mm spacer

Mine has a 170mm Lyrik on it (I've been meaning to reduce it to 160mm).

It feels amazing downhill when in 6'' travel mode; sucks up everything.

It's perhaps just a tadge too much for all-round riding though (I think 160mm would be perfect).

hey Blue Ridge Rider and everyone else running those MRP upper guides on a single ring setup... How are you finding the chain retention? Any issues with drop or chainsuck? I'm about to pull the trigger on a tracer (older gen) and want to build it up 1x9 or 1x10 with one of those rather than a LG1 or MRP G# guide. Lemme know!

How are the wheels? What is the engagement like? I've been wanting a set, but can't let go of my Chris Kings.

So far so good!!! I have been beating them to death too. I had the very first generation of Havoc wheels, and my only complaint was the rear hub.
I still have those wheels too, and I actually rode a few downhill runs on them at Snowshoe. I put them on my Socom to see if I could destroy them.
The carbon Haven's are much better wheels, IMO. The rear hub is easy to switch from 142 to 135, and they are stupid light.
Engagement is very good, a bit faster then my Hopes, but not as quick as my I9's.
I just had to have a Hadley 12mm axle machined to fit my frame, came out real nice too.
Laterally the stiffest wheels I have ridden. I would recommend them for sure I am taking them to one of our rockiest ridgeline trails tomorrow and give them another good test.

Hello, I drop a chain every once in a while. Only hard very hard suspension compression and front braking.
For the most part, I am happy with it. It's light, but I would prefer a bashguard. I tried putting one on there, an LG1+ and MRP SL, didn't work very well.
We even tried to cut it.

cool thanks for the intel... what was bad fitment wise about the LG1 and SL guide? no clearance down low by the VPP flipper link?

I'm on a large, am just a hair over 6ft, and have a 32in inseam. Fit is perfect! Running a 70mm stem it climbs really comfortably, and when running a 50mm it handles even better on the downs. Neither setup feels cramped or stretched.

Had this beauty about 8 months now, must have been one of the last I guess before they changed to the 2!

Large in custom Green (looks amazing on the back of our black and orange VW Camper!)

All the gear from my old Giant Reign X1 (2008) moved over to this frame (changed to single ring/bash/guide and dh bar at purchase of the Giant).

    Fork: Fox 36's
    Shock: Fox RP23
    Headset: Hope
    Stem: Race Face
    Handlebars: Spank Royola
    Grips: DMR Lock on's
    Brakes:Hayes Stroker Trail
    Shifters: Sram ?
    Derailleurs: Sram X9
    Crank: Race Face
    Chainring: ethirteen 38t
    Chainguide: can't remember!
    Pedals: Crank Bros 50:50XX
    Seatpost: Thompson Layback
    Saddle: WTB
    Wheels: WTB Dual Duty (?)
    Tires: Maxxis Ignitor 2.2

Long list of upgrades, all depending on the inflow of money (ei each time I get a new contract I treat myself - the longer it is the more I spend!)

    Seatpost - rockshox dropper
Rear shock - cane creek double barrel.
Bar stem combo - easton havoc or haven possibly (is it worth going carbon?) Also, grips - does anyone make long grips, standard ones are only just long enough for my broad hands (I used to run bmx grips for more length)
Wheel set - I have no idea!
Brakes - again not a clue!

I'm happy with my fork and cranks for now (until I get a bonus that I can't think of anything else to spend it on...).
