Spider Comp Tire Clearance

I am building a Spider Comp 29 and had a question regarding rear tire clearance. Will a 2.35 nobby nic fit fine in the rear or do I need to be looking at a 2.25? I know some other longer travel 29ers have some clearance issues with larger tires on the rear. I appreciate the advice.

I've been running 2.35 nevegals on mine for a while now with no issues. The seatstays are designed with small channels to allow for a bit more clearance. Wouldnt go any bigger than 2.35 on there though.

Thanks for the advice! The Neve's are fairly large 2.35's as well so I should be good. Now just get the larges out the door so I can post up some pics and a ride report.

We all seem to be running 2.35 nev's on our personal S29c and with that tire ther is a good 1/2" clearance between tallest tread and the inside of the swingarm yoke. We went through a lot of extra effort on the Spider to keep the chainstay short (17.5") and still have good clearance for trail size tires on a bike that gets 5" travel. In the modeling stage we ran most of the popular tire OD profiles.

I have not but I can safely say you will have very marginal clearance for the height of the tire. I swapped from a 2.35 NN to a 2.25NN due to limited clearance in that regard. Width won't be an issue.

A friend of mine has the HD's fitted to a comp in his shop and it fits fine although would be a bit tight squeeze with some good old British mud on them too...
