    Raw finish retouching

    Hi all,

while transporting my uzzi raw finish bike on a bike holder, clamp had removed the raw finish on a part of the frame just over the bottom bracket.

It is a "shiny" polished alluminium patch surrounded by opaque raw finish. Touching with the finger no difference can be feeled.

Any idea about how to restore raw finish in the area? Some chemical treatment? Any help will be apprecited.

    Thank you
    Enrico

Fine wire brush will take some of the polish out, perfect for the brushed raw finish.
For the smoother mottled acid finish not sure, from experience with removing anodizing with chemical etching, something alkaline/caustic (ph 9+) will give a matt finish but you need to be quite careful what you use and how long you leave it on for.

Thank you jes for the response,

i will try first with a wire brush to see if the polish one just got "confused" with the raw. Will eventualy try to take some diluted sodium hydroxide diluted solution from the laboratory where i work to try to reat a small spot with a brush to test the effect.

A Scotch Bright pad is all you need - kind of looks like the little pad for doing dishes, but it's grey instead of green. No chemicals or solutions needed.
