    Out with the old

Out with the old-tracer.jpgOut with the old-tracer1.jpgOut with the old-tracer2.jpgOut with the old-tracer3.jpg

It has been a long time coming but with the arrival of a new Tracer 275 it is time to retire my old faithful 1999 Uzzi SL.
After two good rides this past weekend it amazes me how much faster the new technology is - both up and down the hill. With the bigger wheels and wider bars it did feel like holding on to a bull descending the whoop sections.

Tracer is pretty standard kit with XT build and reverb stealth but gives me something to tinker with over the next few years. For anyone out there considering upgrading from a retro steed, if you have the means, go for it. I couldn't be happier.

It is a lot cheaper mid-life crisis than one with a Porsche in it.

    Foeg.

Congratulations on the new bike, I hope (and I'm sure it!) will be as trusty as your retro steed!

The bike looks fantastic, enjoy it!

That Uzzi is a trusty old companion. I have an orange one just like yours. It's bad weather bike. Congrats on the new ride. Its hard to ride anything else after ridding a vpp.

Good idea about using the Uzzi as a bad weather bike. I haven't decided on a use for it yet but thinking that I might get a hard tail frame to swap the bits onto so my wife has a bike too. For now I will keep it built up and put some flat pedals on so I can introduce some non- MTB mates to our world.

At night, when the wife and kids are in bed, I have to sneak out and down to the garage to stroke my bike and say goodnight. Is that wrong?

Its ok, as long as you give the Uzzi a reach around while you're at it!
