    New to spider 29 comp

I have bought a spider 29 comp last week and I have some questions about it:

1- I have mounted an xx1 with a 156 q factor crank and If I use Race Face 2013 protections and pedal hard on the left, the right crank arm touches the chainstay. Is it normal ?

2- With a 140mm fork should I put the rear shock in the up or down hole ?

3- After a few rides on rock gardens I got 3 the paint damages like this:

Any idea why and how can I protect the part preventing future damages?

    1. Can't answer this for you. My Sram XO 36/22 setup has no clearance issues. Someone much smarter than me regarding crank clearance will have to chime in here.

    2. I would recommend the top hole to set it in the 130mm or longer travel selection to better match the 140mm front.

    3. I bought helicopter tape and taped up the inside front and top of my chain stays by the tires to prevent this chipping. It has worked like a charm. Its really aesthetics so don't worry too much about it.

Running a 168 Q-factor crank will give you more crank clearance. The 156 version is very narrow for that frame.

You,should have got the q168 cranks as recommend by intense, most dual suspension bike require the q168 crankset I know my bronson does.
