    My Tazer VP

Built this up a couple months ago.

I've wanted one of these since the early FSR style frames, but never got one. Saw this frame on Ebay without the shock, brand new, and decided to scoop it up. Build got out of hand quickly...

    Frame: Intense Tazer VP. (2010?)
    Fork: Fox 831
    Shock: Fox CTD Float
    Brakes: Shimano XT
    Cranks: Shimano XT
    Derailleur: Shimano XT
    Shifter: Shimano XT
    Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 11-28
    Chainguide: MRP G3 mini
    Pedals: Twenty6 Predators
Headset: Cane Creek Angleset. -1 deg. for a 67HA
    Stem: Twenty6 F1.2
    Handlebars: SMAC Innovations SW820
Grips: ODI TLD. (Just replaced with Sensus lock ons.)
    Seat: SDG Ifly
    Post: SDG Ibeam micro adjust
    Clamp: DKG QR
Wheels: Easton Haven carbon with 12mm Hadley axle
Tires: Maxxis Minion DHFs (rear has a Larson TT currently)

Fun little bike. Currently doing trail rides, mostly goofing around. Super short wheelbase makes it lots O fun.

Funny you mention that. I've got a spot on the shuttle day this coming weekend... I've never had a short travel bike there.

Nice build, I've been really keen to get a Tazer Fro for ages as a short travel all rounder.
How you finding the red paint on the FS frame, I've got the Tazer HT in red and the finish is very brittle, just hoping the FS version is a bit harder wearing.

    Bike is brilliant at BR!
I have the older, straight tubed one and its build with a 130 mm fork. I was initial skeptical if it can be any good there but when I went with a couple of friends that intended to stick to the easier trails I took it and...wow! Jumps are so much more fun and railing corners is great too! Also wasn't that bad in the rougher stuff. I switched from Larsens to Minions and put clipless pedals on though.
    Damn, I miss BR.

Too early to tell on the finish. Seems solid.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Intense have a lot of the Tazer HT frames made across the pond? I wonder if they were powder coated here or there?

Yea I believe the HT frame were not a made in the USA and was hoping that may explain the paint.
I would say it's not powder coated, looks sprayed over a white base coat and the frame material has a light gold tinge !
I've only seen a few of the Tazer FRO in the red finish recently but have been a bit cautious due to concerns over the paint, other frames I have are raw which naturally wear really well.
If you can please update on how the finish holds up with more use.

    Thanks

cool bike. I'm considering one of these for my next trail bike. I've had stuff like trek fuels, spec. enduros, hecklers, etc. and want something that is going to be more jumpy, playful, durable, and stiff than a regular trailbike while still being a climbable bike. do you think the tazer could fit the bill? I'm 5'8 so I can probably get away with a frame that low if I run a long seatpost.

how stiff is that tazer? how well does it pedal?

It's stiff enough. My other bike is a carbon Trance X, and it's a little more solid than that. Probably cause it's so short. It pedals really well, no matter where the CTD lever's at. I keep hearing they're terrible shocks, but honestly it seems great. Probably cause I ordered it for the frame from FOX, so it's got the proper tune...

Good luck finding a frame. Intense doesn't offer this any more. I just happened upon one on Ebay brand new. Keep your eyes on the classifieds.
