Now that there are a few of you that have either built an M9 or many of you that considering to do so, I would like to here your thoughts on a couple things........

The bottom bracket is higher than most DH frames, will/or does this still allow it to feel/carve a turn like the M6 or 951? (I know this has been asked, but I haven't read a reply from a owner)

What about the reach, does it feel like an M6 or longer like the 951?

In the G3 forward setting how close is a 2.50 tire to the lower swing link? (pictures)

I have seen pictures of Kovarik's black M9 and I am wondering what angle set cup is used(- .5 ?) and what travel setting it is set at (9.5 ?)

    thanks..........

The bottom bracket isn't higher than "most DH frames." My bottom bracket height is 13.75" in the middle G3, 0* Cane Creek angle set cup, and fox 40 with the crowns set to 8.25." If you installed a boxxer and lowered the crowns you could get the BB height even lower. I have owned two M6's and have ridden a few 951's. The reach on the M9 is longer than both of those bikes (all the bikes I owned and tested were mediums.) I run 2.5" maxxis minion 3C tires mounted on Mavic EX721's and in the short G3 position there is an ample amount of tire clearance. A profile picture showing the tire clearance is very deceiving. It makes the tire look much closer than it really is. If you look down behind the seat you will see there is enough clearance (if that makes sense.) I don't have any pictures of the tire clearance. Lastly, I have no idea which angle set cups CK runs. I would venture to guess he might chance the geo's on his bike according to the race course. But then again, he isn't very technical when it comes to his suspension and geometry compared to Matti Lehikoinen.

Do like the black rims over the white also. Have been looking forward to seeing the build when it was finished. Short of the fork and wheels, same route Im going. Only 4 more days.

How heavy are your M-9s building up?

Mine is a small and it's 41.5lbs with steel spring. It will lose a little weight when I get a Ti spring and the Avalanche cart for my boxxer but it probably will stil be around 41lb

    I have a problem ..
    My weight 77kg ( ReadytoRide )

    9.5" / Middle Front Setting

Now I have 450ti spring of canecreek inherited from the 951, too hard for my weight.

My doubt is whether that of 350 is too soft ? Risk in big drops? the 400 might be too hard if I decide to change the travel in 8.5/9 ... ( according to the instructions of the document CCDB/M9 )

Especially not clear to me the question of preload of 2 / 4 spring turns!!! :O FOUR TURNS ? I never pre-loaded a spring more than two turns maximum!

What could be the most appropriate spring to my weight which provides a flow-ride and also not to blow up the double barrel if every time I make a few big jump!

    Help ME!

However, comparing the curves of compression should be at least two different springs if you wanted to change the parameters.

Cane Creek Cycling Components ---> Marco

Malcolm says... "A 350lb spring is where I would start for the 8.5 and 9” mode. The leverage curve is not as progressive as the 951, a 400lb would be used in the 9.5 mode. Note a spring is often the most overlooked adjustment on a shock and you are swapping between leverage ratios and curves with the M9’s multiple settings. We like preload on the spring, true most allow only 2 turns. We can run 1 - 5 turns of preload depending on what is needed so 2 - 4 turns of pre load are ok."

Well, my first front rim only lasted 2 runs, but i think that was due to a badly laced wheel. They do take some getting used to, I was on EX823 rims before, and never gave it a second thought, but with the flows I was a bit more carefull. they are light, and can take some abuse, but maybe better for just race wheels

Eric, If you dont mind me asking. Where is Seattle/WA are you going to ride that thing? Lived up there up until the last 2 years and until that point, only had a HT Rocky Mountain w 100mm fork. Didnt really see a need for much more. But then the only few places I was riding were around Tiger. Looking forward to getting back up to Whistler one day with the M9, but not really in the cards for now.

Do the M9's tend to run a little bigger than most other DH bikes? I was all set to order a medium but after reading a few comments from people on the intrwebz I'm wondering if I should pick up a small. I'm 5'7" and generally like a medium frame so I can keep everything tight in the twists and turns.

One of the sickest bikes I've seen in a while. Everything just flows so well together.

Quick question, what Odi blue endcaps are those? Never seen blue, only blue lock rings which I have ATM.
