Carbine and XTR M986 RD

Anyone know if this rear derailleur will work on the Carbine, didn't realize I ordered the one that can be direct mounted until I rec'd it. Can it be used in conjunction with a Derailleur hanger or do I need to send back and get an M985?

I've got the RD 986 SGS on my Carbine 275 3x10. Fits perfect.

If you run 2x10...

Consider buying a spare drive side dropout for the 275.

would it fit on a tracer 29 do you think, also should I get a med or long for running xt 2x10 cranks

Yes, it should fit fine on the T29. The M986 RD mounts to a normal hanger or you can remove the small standard mount extension and use it for direct mount. For 2x10 I would go med cage.
