    Carbine 650b Dropout - Hope 12 x 142 Adapter

    Hi.

I am planning to upgrade my 650b wheels from Inferno27 to Arch EX with hope Pro2 hubs.

I need to change Hope hub's rear from 135 to 142 and I was wondering what hope adapter I need to buy, is it X12 or just the regular 12mm thru?

    thanks!

You want the standard 142 x 12 conversion from Hope. The 27.5 dropouts from intense are standard 142 x 12, not the Shimano type

This is the one I used when I converted my Pro2 to a 142x12 from a 10x135 thru:
    9th item down the list - Pro2 Rear 12 x 142mm (X-12) Universal Cycles -- Hope Hub Conversion Kits

One thing I wanted to mention about the Pro 2 EVO - I and several people at my LBS have been having issues with bearing and freehub failures. It seems Hope increased the axle size on the PRO 2 EVO and the bearings might be less robust that previous versions. This may be contributing to premature failures on freehubs and bearings. I personally cracked 3 aluminum freehub shells along the key spline in the past 6 months, then switched to a steel freehub body and have had two sets of freehub bearings explode causng the freehub to lock up. Keep an eye on it and if you notice any drag that pushes the cranks forward while coasting you may want to pull off the freehub and have a look. When mine locked up it cost me a rear clutch derailleur and a drive side dropout and we know those aren't cheap.
