    Black Chrome Mistake

Yea, that's right. I saw the thread last week about the black chrome Tracer that Intense mistakenly got back from the powdercoater. The shop that got the frame was Zion Cycles in Springdale, UT, a shop I've been to quite a few times. When I saw that they had it I jumped at the chance to get it. Well, I sorta jumped, but couldn't justify spending the money on it. My fiancee could though. She decided that it'll be my Christmas present. BEST CHRISTMAS EVER! She called last week but we weren't able to go pick it up until yesterday; its a 3 hour drive from Las Vegas. The bike is gorgeous! I took it outside for a little photo shoot in the sun. Lots of pics!

I didn't have any parts for the frame, but I ended up getting an Intense XT build kit at the shop since he had one. I have everything minus a fork and wheels. I'm planning on picking up a Fox 36 TALAS. So my build will be as follows:

    Fork: TBD (Fox 36 TALAS)
    Shock: Fox RP23
Headset: Cane Creek Double XC Flush
Stem: Titec Pluto Prolite (The kit comes with a 100mm stem, which I most likely will switch out for a shorter one eventually due to the TT length)
    Handlebars: Titec Hellbent Prolite 31.8mm
    Grips: Intense Lock On
Brakes: Shimano XT (Came with 160mm front rotor, probably change to ~180mm)
    Shifters: Shimano XT
    Rear Derailleur: Shimano XT
    Front Derailleur: Shimano XT
Crankset: Truvativ Stylo (The kit came with a Stylo, but I think I'll change it out for a Shimano XT)
    Chain: Shimano
    Cassette: Shimano XT 11-34t
Pedals: My old but great Crank Brothers Candy SL's
    Seatpost: Titec Pluto Duke Carbon
    Saddle: Titec Pluto Prolite RZ
    Wheels: TBD
    Tires: Intense System 4 2.25

Thanks to Fred at Zion Cycles!

Only problem is now my fiancee is taking it away and hiding it until Christmas so I can open it up. Normally, that would be grounds for getting the boot, but under the circumstances, she still is the greatest! Thanks honey!

No, but she has a brother!

The color is very cool. It really looks like a works finish. You can see all the imperfections of the aluminum, it is more like a black glaze over the frame. But shiny. I'm so excited for this bike. The last all mountain bike I bought was my 2003 Giant AC. That beast weighed 39 lbs, but I rode that bike everywhere. I'm hoping this one'll weigh in it around 30.5 lbs. And climb so much better. I'm just rambling now.

    Unreal...

I think I see Intenses new "special color" offering. Nothing against the Kawasaki baby puke green, but this is more to my liking. Very, very utilitarian looking. Tough personafied...

Nice job on the welding, Rick, of course...

No, I still have a full head of hair........
Also, the dude is sitting in front of a MIG machine, and no AC/DC in in the background.
But, the next time I go into a Wendy's, I will demand a free bowl of chili finger.....
    Thanks for all the comp's.
We do it because we love it, Intense for life.

You have a good eye. Now look at the upper left part of the rear triangle and you will see the bag with the dropout/hanger. Better for transport and has less potential for damage/bending.

    Again, nice eye.

I went from a 37 lb AC to a 41 lb Uzzi VPX, and the Uzzi is a better all around bike then the AC even with the extra weight. I'm sure the Tracer will do everything far better than the AC (including dh), it's near the top of my list for a lighter bike.

Lol, I didn't realize he was in that picture until after I posted it. Thanks for asking. That's Yeti, he's an Australian Cattle Dog mutt.

We also have Zocchi, she's an Australian Cattle Dog / Pointer mix. I can't find a picture at the moment. By the way, don't know where those names came from, it's not like I bike or anything....
