Am I the only one? Cannot get grease into the flush mount zerks

I've got a Carbine 29 and trying to grease the lowers. I'm using the adapter that came with my frame and the grease just squirts out around the flush mount and no grease actually makes it in. I tried lots of pressure, little pressure, different angles. Nada. Grease just won't go in.

I tried depressing the little ball with a fine point and it moves.

Should I try filing down the point on this adapter? Do I get a longer needle type adapter thing? Any ideas??

Are your sure the little ball is moving freely? Its quite common for the spring that supports the ball to get pushed into the void where the grease is. I've had this happen a few times and its then impossible to get any grease injected into the pivots.

Try completely removing and cleaning the zerk fitting with a heavy degreaser. Could be clogged with dirt and not allowing grease to go through.

Thanks. I'll remove it and try cleaning. When I press with a sharp point, I can feel the little ball depress and come back, so I'm pretty sure that's not it.

Pull the zerk out with needle nose pliers, insert the grease gun in the hole and pump away. put the zerk back in to keep dirt out. Order a few new ones since it is not an uncommon failure.

the press fit zerks can fail. i replaced mine with some threaded ones after i had issues. i used the remove and pump in the hole for a bit before tapping the holes and replacing with the threaded zerks

Finally got this to work. The adapter that came with my frame was busted. It was too thick to push the zerk ball in.

Picked up this one: Amazon.com: Lincoln Lubrication 5803 Grease Needle Nozzle: Automotive

Worked like a champ. Fresh grease everywhere
