    2010 Uzzi with XTR 175mm M985 cranks

Original setup - MRP Chainguide with 175 XTR M970 cranks. Then I upgraded to Saint, but these are 165 mm for more clearance. All that worked fine.

Since then, I cracked the rear triangle which was replaced by Intense. It's been working with the Saint cranks, though it was hitting rubbing the chainstay, but barely. Sitting around I have an M985 crankset that I bought a Wolftooth no drop ring for so I could lose the chainguide. I tried to put the XTR M985 cranks on last night and the are arms are hitting the chain stays. By the time I get it wide enough with spacers, I can't get the other side on.

I have to put 3 spacers on the drive side to get it to clear. I have to put one on the non-drive side. Any idea what is wrong here?

Why are these crank arms hitting the chain stay?

    Non Drive side -

2 Spacers on Drive side, 1 on non-drive side. To make this work, I need 3 on the drive side, but now the spindle isn't long enough. What the heck is going on?

    Any ideas?

    Smile UZZI Troubles

Wow, what is going on there. I have a 2012 model and have basically the same setup, I am using a Shimano XTR BB 1 spacer on the drive side and a M985 170mm crank with a RaceFace 30T narrow wide chain-ring. I use to have a M952 165mm crank-set and it also had enough clearance. I did notice that my rear has a indentation probably designed for crank clearance issue. Sorry not so much help, hope you get it worked out.

I believe that the new style rear triangle has wider spaced c/stays to help with stiffness and strength. However, it has lead to some compatibility issues.

Had the same issue on my previous 2010 Uzzi. I had the 150mm rear space version and I was running Saint M815 - 68/73mm BB, 175mm length cranks and it was <1mm on the drive side and at times with some flex would make contact with the c.s. Non-drive was alil better at 2-3mm. I didn't want to mess up the c.s. on the drive side so I traded my Saints for the 83mm version and used the raceface bb conversion adapter. Had 5-6mm on each side and didn't have to worry anymore.

Not sure if you have the 135 or 150 spacing but since I resolved my issue, may help you too.

Thanks man! I see that with these cranks, I'm basically out of luck and there is no way to run them on this bike. I have Saint cranks, but they are 165mm - so I'm not stuck, very surprised a 68/73 mm BB won't work with these cranks. I understand it's not the BB shell that is the issue, but the chain stays. I can just put my Saint cranks back on and be happy.
