The Webber Creek Trails 111 and 034 are on the Idaho Side of the Italian Peaks area just south/east across the ridge from Deadman/Nicholia trail in Montana. This is a scenic, strenous, sometimes technical ride of about 7 miles to the first of the Webber Creek Lakes. The trail starts out at 6,800 feet at the trailhead and ends at the upper lake at 9,550 feet elevation. The trail from the middle to upper lake is steep and is not really suitable for biking from an erosion standpoint. We walked that section. Portions of the main trail are steep or rocky and will require some hike a bike. We did an out and back ride but more trails in the area may permit a strenous loop option. There are three lakes along the upper trail which appear to be fishless. Expect to see horses or motorized bikes on the trail. This trail is on the Dubois Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. From Dubois, Idaho, go 6 miles west in ID 22 to Medicine Lodge Creek Road. Go northwest 22 miles on Medicine Lodge Creek Road and turn left on Webber Creek road and go 5 miles to small campground and trailhead. Note the remains of three old cabins along the trail. It is about 7 miles to the first lake and 1 more mile to the third lake. Enjoy the ride and scenery! The Idaho side is open to Mtn Bikes.
