    Trail riding near Story/Sheridan/Buffalo Wyoming?

I'll be heading to to visit my father in Story Labor Day weekend, and was hoping to get at least one solid ride in while I'm up there. I know there's not much of anything in Story, but anything somewhat close would be great. Some techy singletrack would be preferred.

    Thanks much!

Don't really know of any good single track in the Bighorns. There is a lot of forest service roads and atv trails you could always check out.

The only think Ive heard of down there is the Tongue river trail, but I dont remember the details. I think you drive up the highway out of Sheridan.

    I found this info:

    MOUNTAIN BIKING - Sheridan Wyoming

Does anybody know if this is worth checking out? I also heard that there's a short-ish trail in Buffalo that goes by an abandoned Hydroelectric plant???

Wifey and I did a variant of the Tongue River shuttle ride in 2011. It far exceeded my expectations. We followed this vague description which is a much shorter shuttle but you have to cross the Tongue River. Mountain biking

Here's a few teaser pics to whet your whistle.

Wow, thanks so much for the info, I really appreciate it. For some reason, I can't view your pic though.

I'm not sure why they didn't post but here's one. It really is a treat to drop off the edge of the Bighorns into Tongue River Canyon.

edit to try again. Not sure what is up with mtbr and posting pics lately?

    That is worth checking out.

The "short-ish" trail in Buffalo is probably Clear Creek Trail. Here is some beta for putting it together with others for a bigger ride.

Also, depending on where you are driving to/from, the Bench Trail (mentioned in the "foothills campground" link) near Shell Falls is a great ride if you happen to be on the west side of the Bighorns.

Penrose Trail is right out of Story. It is mentioned in the foothills link too. It looks hit hard by motorized though...here is a vid.
