The Thunder Mtn and Rattlesnake Ridge Trails are southwest of Salmon and upstream of Williams Lake. It is possible to do a 16.5 mile loop ride using a combination of roads and trails from above Williams Lake. The trails are not well marked and don't exactly follow the Forest Service and Topo maps as they probably guessed where they were when they printed the original maps decades ago before GPS. That is part of the fun of this ride is route finding. The trails are non-motorized. The ride starts at about 6,100 feet and tops out at about 9,000 feet with some hike a bike. Takes me about 4 and 1/4 hours to do the loop with stops for lunch and photo taking. The trails go through timber and sagebrush meadows. Photos below are from Thunder Mtn Trail area. The Chinese Grave sites are supposedly from 3 miners killed for their gold.
