    Thrive bike issue....story suggestions wanted

I'm just gonna copy and paste this from the Idaho Outdoors Yahoo! Group.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/idahoo...s/message/8033

    Hey folks,

We're putting together the annual Thrive bike issue for April 10, and I wanted
to send out an email asking for story suggestions for all things bike - road,
    mountain, cruisers, anything goes.

We have a lot of things in the works right now, but we're always looking for
anything new and/or unique to cover. Know a fantastic person whose story hasn't
been told? Know of any new bike clubs, stores or trends that have popped up in
the last year? That's the kind of stuff we're looking for, the stuff that tends
to fall through the cracks that we hear about after the fact.

If anyone has anything you think we could use, shoot me an email.

    As always, thanks,

    My suggestions.....

    1) Something on SS'ing and/or unicycling. They've covered freeriding (Brad and the SpudHucksters), recumbents, Jenny's BOMBB group, the Lightfields. I haven't seen any unicyclists out there, but I keep seeing more and more folks on SS.

    2) Something on SWIMBA's upcoming projects and the need for volunteers to work on 'em.

    That's all I have.

    Idea! lightbulb!

how about a nice big fat juicy article on trail etiquette?! how to keep a single track single?! seems like those are some major complaints.
i might be going to hell in a bucket, but at least i'm enjoying the ride

I vote for sustainable trails = sustainable foothills = what georgezilla just said
Nobody cares what kind of bike you ride.

This was my original post to Chad....

    3) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something on riding etiquette in the
Footies and the Greenbelt and the road. I'm sure you don't have to
look hard to find someone with a negative story of a cyclist. Help
educate cyclists, non-cyclists, drivers etc. Can't we all get along!?!?
    In my follow-up, I'll definately mention K.I.S.S.

    Thrive

All great suggestions mentioned thus far. One other thing worth mentioning would be trail conditions as far as when to/not to ride on them and the effects that we have on muddy trails and widening singletrack. These include pedestrians, dogs, bikes, horses...

From an email that's been floating around yesterday.....

    Hi All,

    I need a volunteer.

If anyone is interested in getting their photo in Thrive demonstrating proper
bike etiquette, please contact David Parker. They would like to take the photos
on Thursday, Friday at the latest.
