Sun Valley and Stanley trails in October?

Road tripping from the Great White North. Hoping to include Stanley and Sun Valley in the itinerary in early to mid October. Trails still open and snow free? Thinking of riding Elk Mountain and Fischer Creek in Stanley and Greenhorn Imperial in SV. We are from Canada and we like the cold, eh.

Early October is better than late, it will be chilly with potential for rain/snow anytime. It should be snow free but, if I could predict that far ahead I would be buying lottery tickets, Have a great trip!

Greenhorn & Imperial in SV might have burned. Reports are coming in slowly on current fires. Stanley is good for now.

Well, you guys know the drill. If there is any significant moisture, it probably won't melt off in the shady bits, and can be soup. You can sometimes get away with riding in the early morning if those conditions exist.
Or it could be bone dry, or hero dirt, or 6 inches of slushy goop.
    Hope that helps!

The Ketchum RD trail crew hiked the Greenhorn/ Imperial loop yesterday and reported scary burnt snags and ankle deep ash in places. They think it's unlikely the Greenhorn or Deer Creek trails will reopen this season. They're checking out Mahoney and Lodgepole today. Lodgepole appears to have burned very hot.

There are few treed areas on the Croy Trails except in Lambs, and the fire likely didn't burn as hot there, so less concerns about soil. That's mostly BLM land though.
