    Roof Rack Options

Hi. I am looking to transport two bicycles on the roof of my GMC Yukon using the factory installed rack and crossbars. I like the top models offered by Yakima and Thule, but I'm confused on which ones will fit the factory crossbar and/or what additional parts I will need. I have heavily explored both websites and still don't know what to order. Recommendations on these racks or others would be appreciated. Thanks!

A friend of mine has what you need
    the Thule Side Arm's
Cross bars, and the universal clamps(450 crossroad clamps) to attach to your factory roof rack. the system is barely used and I think he will make you a good deal.. .
If you're interested in the rack or have some questions, shoot me a PM..
I believe the 450 crossroad clamps will clamp onto your factory rack
and then interface with the thule bar..
    Cheers.. ...

Thanks for the lead, but there has got to be a way to avoid the added expense and use the factory crossbars I already have.

I am also considering a Thule T2 from the hitch. Both have their pro's and con's.....

    hitchrack

get a thule or yakima hitch rack...

much nicer than a roof rack.

if you have a hitch already...(which you should on that truck)...

then, a hitch rack - upright mount is the best, imo.

top mounted bikes suck. It is too easy to rip them off on your garage, drive through, parking garage etc. Get a trailer hitch mount rack. Your bikes will get dusty instead of bug splattered.
Oh sh!+ just force upgraded to cat1. Now what?
Best thing about an ultra marathon? I just get to ride my bike for X hours!

maybe don't drive into your garage/drivethru/parking garage with your bikes on top of your vehicle? seems like a pretty easy situation to avoid

but yes i agree if i had an suv i would probably be using a hitch mounted rack

I thought so too. There are many techniques: leave remote in glove box. hang a flag on garage door etc. Consequences suck when you forget though.

REI may have 'em on sale right now, but, i think that labor day sale has ended..if not...wait 'til you can get a 20% off @ REI
