    Montana/Idaho/Utah trails this weekend

We are driving south from Fernie to Moab and want to stop somewhere along the way in Montana/Idaho/Utah for some riding. Does anyone have recommendations for good biking, with decent weather somewhere along the way? Looks like a lot of higher elevation areas are getting pretty chilly - we were considering Bozeman, but it looks like there might be snow? Whitefish is almost local so we would rather ride somewhere further south. Ideal riding would be fast flowy xc.

Head to Missoula, stop in one of the many local bike shops and ask about the Rattlesnake area, lots of options up there. When you are done you have your choice of breweries downtown.

Quite a bit of snow is around Butte and I-15 corridor. You may not have any luck if you are coming through soon. In a week many trails should be dried out.
I don't know what trail we're on, but at least it's getting dark

    When is your trip?
Possibly Pocatello would be your honeyhole if you aren't coming through in the next week.

Would there be snow in Missoula if Butte is snowy? Maybe continuing further to Pocatello is a better option? It looks like there is some good riding there.

We are leaving Saturday September 28 and are booked in Moab on Tuesday October 1 (going for Outerbike). So we will likely ride a couple of times along the way. The weather forecast is a little better for southern Idaho than Montana, but I'm not sure how accurate and localized the weather forecasts are.

Trails will be prime by the time you'd get here (Pocatello)tomorrow or Sunday. Skiff of snow on the peaks will melt and the dirt couldn't be much better than it is right now. Looks like mid 60's for the weekend with a little breeze. Definitely worth checking out. Most of the high stuff around west yellowstone/jackson/teton valley is snowed in, at least for the next few days.

Thanks for the info.... probably check out Pocatello then. Any suggestions on hotels or restaurants would be appreciated too.

Not sure on hotels, everything is within about a 10-15 minute drive so probably not a huge deal. The Sandtrap for restaurant. Reasonably priced, very mountain bike friendly and close to all the trails. Portneuf Brewery and Buddy's are also good options.

Over a foot of snow up high in the vicinity of Red Mountain south of Butte, 6" to 8" lower down at the Highlands "Rest Area" CDT trailhead as of yesterday.
