Little Basin Creek, aka Potato Mountain conditions

Anyone been up to Stanley lately? I am heading up there on Thursday, and was wondering what the status of little basin creek is.

I talked to the ranger lady a week or so ago, she said 100 down trees per mile, and the crew wouldn't be getting there for a few weeks.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......

Did any portion of that ride not burn up last summer?

Looking at the fire map InciWeb the Incident Information System: Halstead Large Map it looks like it all went up. I was there last week and I could look up Basin creek from 75 and see standing burned timber. Didn't actually go check out trail due to what the FS told me.

Hiked up the singletrack from the usual parking spot. Most of the trail has been cut out up past the hike a bike section thanks to someone, not sure if it was the motos or a FS crew, but thanks! The retard chariots/texas wheelchairs have been trying to get in there, but looks like they've been held at bay somewhat by narrow passages through log traps. Quite a lot of it has been charred and burned hot, the trail is loose and dry now, not sure what the future holds for the trail.

Rode it on Sunday. It's been cleared all the way. But the downed trees are just the beginning of the damage caused by the fire. Extensive erosion/blowouts on many side creeks require crossing many sandy/gravel fields. All still rideable but it's flow is somewhat diminished and it's a charred landscape now.

from bug kill to fire kill to eventually new growth, from birth through adolescence and finally old age, time marches on.
yours is the first report of the destructiveness of the fire.
    thanks for posting.
