New question here. Boise, Idaho: Bob's Bicycles

I tripped across this enterprise while looking for some derailleurs on eBay. Based on his offerings (frames and components, takeoffs described as OEM), it almost looks as though the whole effort consists of tearing down whole bicycles and selling the components. On the web site, Giant, KHS, Rocky Mountain, Titus and Tomac frames are listed.

Has anyone in Boise ever visited this place?

I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses from the Boise crew that have more info, but Bob's is a legit bike shop and probably my favorite shop in Boise. I've never bought any of their eBay stuff, but I bet its exactly as you described- buy KHS's that are cheap and loaded with great parts, then sell all the parts online.

Bob's is a legit bike shop. I bought one of their 'take off' r. der. that was advertised on their
web site for the same price as their ebay store. I didn't use ebay since it was easier for me to just walk into the store and get it. Other than the lack of any packaging, the der. was in new condition, has worked great for 6 months, and was an outstanding deal.

I agree with the others, it's a decent local shop. I don't shop there often, as it's a bit out of the way for me, but they're always friendly and helpful when I go in.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Yeah, it's not a fly by night chop shop. Just opened a big new space full of everything from bmx to highend pro level road bikes.

I called them last month from their ebay listing, and they agreed to give me the same price for walking in, which I did, and it was a GREAT experience. I walked up to one of the salesman, and I had a serious confused look on my face, and asked if he could "sell me a mountain-hybrid-recumbent-cruiser that could handle 15 foot drops?" The look on the guy's face was priceless. But after getting past my normal obnoxiousness, we had a great visit.

Good stuff stocked, a huge facility, and helpful staff. And they're a full Titus dealer, which should save me about 40+mins drive time from not having to go to the boonies of Eagle.

I bought a Giant VT frame from them online. I live in So Cal. My brother lives in Boise. I called him and he said they have been around as long as dirt. My experience with them was very positive.

    they rock!

I have bought lots of stuff from them. Just a note to the locals of Boise. Because Bobs is an e-tailer, they will also match prices with the Pricepoints and Jensons and so forth. You just walk in and they check the price on the web and pricematch on the spot. I have found that even without pricematching they still sell cheaper than anyone else. Yes, they buy bikes and rip them down and sell parts. The parts are brand new and that is how they can sell so cheap. No cheaper place for SRAM. I usually deal with Dave and he is really good. No worries buying from them. Happy shopping!
