Bearlodge Classic Loop in August? Other Trails in the Area?

Is it possible to ride the Bearlodge classic loop in August or is it only open for the race?

I'll be driving from Devil's Tower to Wisconsin in late August and I'm looking for a day of riding somewhere on the way. I've raced the Dakota 5-O a couple of times so I was thinking I want to try something besides the trails near Spearfish. Anything else in east WY/west SD not too far from I90 I should be considering besides Bearlodge and Spearfish? Centennial Trail near Rapid City?

    Thanks!

Ride away, fun loop. Best when the temps are cool for sure.

Thinking of going to Sundance around Sept 1. What are the hunting conditions like?
Are you in season? Mostly concerned with big artillery going off. Great place to ride.

I'll be riding the loop this weekend if anyone wants to join me. Please be capable of easily finishing the ride, reliable and not a weirdo. PM for details if interested.

OK, maybe my expectations are a little too high. Please know how to ride a bike, be familiar with the concept of time and not a serial killer.

    Oh, phew.
I only kill randomly when incensed by Strava racers, so not 'technically' a 'serial' killer.
    Pencil me in.

It's a great ride! I was a little psyched out when I stopped and looked around only to find that there was a mountain lion about 50 feet back on the trail. It may have been following me. Otherwise a great trail and a lot of fun.

whereabouts, did you see the cat? Do you remember the trail you were on... They are out there..

I have seen one cat in Houston Creek years ago, and saw tracks on Ogden Creek road just recently..

I don't remember the names of the trails. I came off a gravel road and went through a cattle gate. The trail then goes across the dam for a little pond in the woods and drops down through a ravine for a long time. About at the start of the ravine.

It was great to see one but I'm happy it kept its distance.
