Anyone know this trail: Mile Creek

    Hi

I am from Austria and I am planning a MTB trip to Montana for the end of August. I found the following article:

Is This Montana?s Best Singletrack? | adventure journal

Does anyone know this trail? Sounds awesome, but I cant find more infos? Does anyone have a gps track/map?

    Thanks for your help....

You don't need GPS, just the Beartooth Map... lots of other posts in MTBR about Mile Creek...

    Mile Creek High (among others)

You can ride it as out-n-back, or loop into Sheep (and / or) the new CDT re-route.

    Sheep is equally as good.

    Hey Panchosdad,

I don't have any 'hard data' but GregB did a write up (2 years ago) of part of the route.

    Lionhead Little Loop

Last year I rode new CDT reroute to Mile, but think it would ride better in reverse (Mile->Targhee Pass) and am hoping to check out that route when I recover from my almost had to spend the night in the woods up in Taylor's Fork when my trail disappeared and the ride went bad...

Anyways, as Greg noted the new CDT reroute can be accessed via that Forest Service road on the N side of the pass. You follow the old route for a mile or two and then you'll see the new CDT reroute.

It follows this really cool rock spine up and up (and up and over a ridge) eventually hooking up with the normal trail before Watkins Creek.

FYI, there's tons of FREE (!) camping on the south side of Hebgen...

Thanks MR. Greg's thread has a map at least so that would be helpful. Looks stormy up there this weekend but maybe later this summer or fall we'll make it up.
