What's old is new: Ibis rebuild

I've been gathering parts for this for a while and now she's ready for the sandbox. Man, I used to covet those fancy lads riding Ibis'. Nicols' frames and company culture were the epitome of original mtb coolness.
I picked up this slightly bastardized Mojo on ebay, classic steel with discs is like comfort food and bourbon. The restoration and disc conversion was by Sycip. It rides right, like steel does. Pre-excuse for the pedals: it'll see townie duty.

Sycip did great, I've already dropped tools onto the frame a few times and nothing!

I imagine the decals are the rarest items on the bike, the guy who refinished it said he got'm from a "guy who used to work at Ibis" and that's all I know....BUT, go to Ibis' site...

for info on new decals, there's a request page link.

it's build for a 2.5in fork, you know that don't you? your fox is raising the BB more than it was planned for.
    is it a medium?

63mm I recall, but I'm not about to put a Judy on it and Fox's have a short drop-out to crown length. It does raise the BB, but only about a quarter inch. None the less I was concerned until I rode it, which was great, more nimble than my Spider.

The fork is still a bit stiff, it needs a few more miles. I've other Fox forks and they're as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned...but I'll admit I originally ordered a Reba ($ vs $$$) for this bike given the changing reviews for Rock Shox products but alas it was unavailable until the 06s arrive at Jenson.

that's a pretty sweet frame. i was eyeing that on ebay too. it's really as perfect a hardtail frame and matching stem can be. glad to hear it's in the mtbr family. as a matter of fact i was thinking of that frame this weekend. i was thinking of going with that color, if/when i repaint my curtlo.

i would bet the "guy who used to work at Ibis" could very well be scot. i know he used to tinker around the shop there a bit, and i've seen him come and go from there a few times.

    Kudos

Hands down - one of the most elegant builds I've seen. Just enough of this, not too much of that, and so on...

    so is mine, a 50mm Indy S.
now i've been high on 130mm Z1, love the slacker bomber angle.

    Ever more mojo

Hey I saw your mojo and it looks like mine - orange. Although you look like you have a xsmall while mine is a small (17" center of bb to top of seat tube). Im kind of bummed out because i only have 1" of standover clearance, which seems a little risky. You havent seen a xsmall frame have you? Or perhaps 1" is no problem?

    thanks

    Ben
