    seat post shim....

Hi Folks...My Crankbrothers hydraulic seat post died. Is it safe to use a 30.9 hydraulic seat post with a shim to 31.6 to fit my Ibis hd? The actual shim is 100mm and is much shorter than the length of the kronolog. Happy racing!

You need to know the min insertion that Ibis recommends for that bike.

100mm should be fine. 4" is commonly recommended for minimum seat post depth and post shims, 100mm is nearly 4".

Posts slip down while riding easier when using a shim. Use a friction grease, such as FinishLine Fiber Grip. This will avoid the need to over tighten the seat collar.
