New (to me) Ripley V4. Late 2021 vintage.
Size large
Cane Creek DB IL Air rear shock
Cane Creek Helm Mk II fork (in limited edition color)
I9 trail 270 wheels. (Have a carbon trail S set ready to go on)
Specialized tires (will most likely change to Schwalbe)
XT drivetrain with Wolftooth ring
XTR trail pedals
XT brakes
Whiskey carbon bars
Ergon grips (will probably change to sticky Renthals)
I9 stem
Cane Creek 110 headset
One Up EDC tool
Specialized phenom saddle (most likely will be swapped for a WTB).
KS Lev dropper with Wolftooth lever

Can’t wait to get it tuned up and out on the trails. Super stoked to be back on a DW link bike with the CCDB shock!

My old LS V2.5 was in this thread somewhere (if that was a thing) anyway happy to report after 2+ years without Ripley recently built up a V4. Got one ride in NYE on it before we had major snowstorm that left all the trails blocked by 100s of down trees at least. Also have set of NOBL TR32s coming for it.

Finally put the finishing touches on my Ripley. I've had it since the spring, but had been running a set of ibis aluminum rim wheels from my gf's bike. The lighter wheels give it a little more spirit.

size L, 27.5 lbs
custom wheels: BTLOS 30iw shallow profile, Project 321 hubs, Sapim cxray spokes, Teravail Honcho/Ehline tires
XO shifters, der, cassette, brakes (brakes have Galfers pads and rotors)
140mm Pike
Wolftooth headset
Raceface Next SL cranks (170mm) w/ Wolftooth 28t ring
Chris King bb
Crank bros candy pedals
One up bar, Enve alum stem, ESI grips
SDG dropper
WTB saddle

I love my Mojo3, but I have to admit, the Ripley is better in most every way. I can't say there's much, if anything, I'd change on it. For overall trail riding it is a dream.

Since this was the frame only option, I was able to install insulating sleeves on the cables inside the frame right from the start, now the bike is dead silent (thankfully the freehub sound is barely noticeable). In terms of weight, it is definitely on the heavy side at almost 32lbs. But a lot of excess weight is still in the wheels and tires. But then again this weight also gives a lot of confidence on the descents giving the bike a very planted and stable feel :)
I'm curious to know what you think..

I've ridden the Ripley 4 frameset four times now--about 60 total miles on it as of this writing. While I could shed a few ounces and maybe a pound or so with a lighter weight fork, tires, and/or wheels, the burliness of this setup really does work for me. What really impresses me is how fantastically this thing climbs. Wow! This bike climbs better than the Ripmo I demoed a few years ago on the Monarch Crest Trail and way better than the TB4. And the descents are amazingly good too--not as good as the Ripmo but its not quite the same sort of thing. The TB4 certainly has a more bottomless feeling, but the Ripley is punch for punch every bit as effective. When Ibis gets around to redesigning this V4 Ripley, they are going to have their hands full. This is an extraordinary beast. One of the things I really appreciate is having a bit less reach and a touch lower stack. It makes me feel apart of the bike instead of sitting over it.

Was a "GX" build from Jenson was lucky enough to buy a few weeks ago. Jenson (Ibis) sent incorrect SLX 2 piston 7100 brakes so they offered to sell me the correct brakes at their cost. I opted to upgrade to the brake I wanted (still at their cost). I sold the GX groupset, sold the S35 rims, sold the SLX brakes.

26.15 lbs with pedals, will be under 26 lbs when I change the front tire back to a 2.4"
Large frame
X01 AXS drivetrain till XX1 axs backorder comes in (X01 loner from another bike which is down for the count)
29mm ID carbon rims (china) - tubeless - DT350 hubs - 6 bolt
SRAM G2 ultimate 180mm front 160mm rear
Answer 2020 bars - Ibis stem
XR4 2.4" rear, 2.6" front (going to remove and swap in a 2.4")

Very nice, and light. What's the frame size? I don't see anything too crazy on there to get the weight down (ti eggbeaters help). Any place in particular where you think you saved notable weight? Wheels maybe? Are the brakes 4 piston? 180mm rotors? My bike is at 27.5 lbs, but I'd be hard pressed to get another 600g out of it. It could be done, but it'd be big change$.
I do think one could make a Spur killer out of a Ripley if they wanted. It'd start with using a 120mm SID like the Spur, in conjunction with a Wolftooth lower headset cup extender to maintain the geometry. Add in a generally light build and you're in that 25 lb range. Sounds like I just reinvented the Exie.

Finally!

Ordered mine as soon as I got back from a day long demo on a Ripley from River Rat in Sacramento...

EDIT: It's been 4 months..... it finally has arrived - building it MONDAY 8/6

I used to have a Mojo SL..... best 26er I ever had. I've been waiting for this "29er Mojo" for so long! I was a bit tweaked at waiting so long and I was not going to be swayed by all the hype... but yes, it's that much better than my TallBoy. More fun, more plush, stiffer, more precise steering and so on...

At some point I will try out my 2013 Lefty on it, just for kicks even though the offset is 46mm not the recommended 51mm ;-)

Large Black/Green
XX1 cranks with XO1 build (been XTR all my life, gonna give sram a try)
120 Fox - w/ remote lockout OR 120mm Lefty carbon XLR - depends ;-)
Reynolds EC90 carbon wheels (may go back to Stan's Race Gold's - lighter!)
Maxxis Ignitor 2.1's
XT brakes
Ashima AirRotors 160mm
Ibis carbon flat bars
Ibis 90mm stem
KS LEV drop seatpost
pieced together "4 Ti" Egg Beater pedals
WTB Silverado Ti saddle

Came in at 23.9lbs.... not bad with a dropper seatpost :)
With the Lefty 23.4 lbs

My medium Ripley will be here on Monday and I just wanted to get an early start on sharing the build. Pictures will follow by end of the week. Hopefully the bike will come in sub 26 lbs. Seat and rear tire is undecided right now.

The only decision I'm trying to make is whether or not to go with a 2.1 or 2.3 rear S-Works Control tire. This will be my primary trail bike with a dedicated 20 lb. XC rig also in the stable.

Medium black/green
140mm Fox matching color scheme
Cane Creek 110 headset
XX1 Drive train
XTR Brakes 180/160
XTR M980 pedals
Enve 90mm stem
Enve sweeper bars
Enve XC (coming off my Tallboy)
125mm Lev dropper
2.3" S-Works Purgatory front tire

Should be close to your 26 ish ... I'm guessing. Your shock may be a little heavier and the Dropper post will add a bit. Medium frame brings down some from my large frame also. I came in at 25 lbs 10 oz. Bet you can't wait eh ? My boy goes on ride #6 today. I Guess .... 25 lbs 11 oz. for yours! :yesnod:

Only tried out riding on streets so far. Compared to my MojoSL, Ripley feels really solid, spin up fast with carbon wheels, and XX1 is very quiet. Can't wait to do my first ride this weekend.

I just ordered my Ripley from Alex and the great crew over at Cycle Progression here in Austin.

I have always been a big matte black fan, but damn. Some of your black and blue builds are damn sexy! tempted to call and switch before it ships... Looks better on the bike then my knees, thats for sure.

Anyway, I went XL green in full XT, Pike 140, 928 wheels, KS Lev, Cane Creek 110, but I am most excited about it shipping with the CC DB-Inline Ripley OEM rear shock. Ibis was expecting them friday, but should be in yesterday or today so hopefully it shipped! It isn't on the site yet i don't think but it is a new option. Pics as soon as it gets here.

Congrats on having a sweet setup incoming. You are now indebted to post a full ride report ASAP...

New Ripley Build

Here is my new Ibis Ripley build thanks to Cal Coast in San Diego! 1x11 32t with XTR Di2, Enve 50/50, internal dropper post and 130mm front suspension! A lil to saturated in the pic but the bike is amazing! I will probably change out the 32 to a 30 when I do the Breck Epic in August. Hopefully other than that I can run w/the 32.

Thanks everyone! I love the XKings! I've used them in various types of terrain from the high mountains of Breckenridge to the dez conditions of SoCal and Utah. I will go with the 2.2's for race season. Cal Coast did my port covers. As far as "budget build"...well i guess everyone has different budgets when it comes to mtb's. I'm 52yrs old and I love riding mtbs so I get what I want...do i need all that, well of course not but I sure do enjoy it! Thanks again!!
