RIPLEY: FOX 51mm offset or SID 46mm offset

    Need advice:
    A Ripley with a 2012 SID 120mm 46mm offset at 400.00$ or a 2013 Fox Float 120mm 51mm offset at 1000.00$

I'm 200pds, XC rider, marathon race

    Thanks

"Although the Ripley will still ride well with a shorter rake fork, the best handling is achieved with a 51 mm offset (rake) fork." -The Ibis Site

...IMO, you want "the best handling" not "still ride well".

It's too good of a bike to screw with the handling.

Buy the SID & see how it goes. If you feel like you need the 51 offset then buy a new CSU, plenty on eBay last I looked. It would still be cheaper & lighter than the fox.

One more vote for the SID

At 120mm I felt like I wanted more trail (less offset) on the Ripley I demo'd for a couple days. I would stick with 51mm on a 140 fork, but for the money I'd try the SID at 120

Don't get a 2013 Fox unless you plan on getting the 2014 update for it- around $75. To put it politely, 2013 was a 'transition' year for Fox

What exactly is the update? Does fox have it on their website?

Call them, it's basically the 2014 internals.
