    Question on Ibis Road Bike

I have the possibliity to buy a NOS Ibis Road bike from (I was told) 1994 or so. The person told me (a dealer) that this was a custom frame ibis made before the started production road bikes. But I have read on that ibis started making road bikes in 1984 or so. Its made of True Temper (which I am not sure is the same as Moron tubing) and is slightly compact geometery.

Any thoughts on the quality of this bike?

I normally would not want a 10 year old bike, but I think it may be a bit of a classic, and the quality of steel frames has not changed that much in 10 years.

Also does anyone know how to determine the exact age (i.e. from the serial number)?

    Thanks, Shawn

    nice frame

Thise were very nice back in the day. I would think if it fits it would be a pretty nice bike. You may be able to get slightly better steel today like 853 but that would be a cool bike. I do not know any particular details about those bikes , however.
