    The Official Tranny thread

Let's start the speculation about the Tranny now..

I just ordered mine today with the SX kit and a fork upgrade to Manitou R7 MRD. I don't know the color yet, because I don't know what options do I have (White please!!).. I will probably take the color that is available first.

Here is the build I am now considering( Changes from SX kit are bolded):

Rear Derailleur Shimano RD-M970, DEORE XTR SGS 9-Speed, Top-Normal
Front Derailleur Shimano XTR FD-M971 34.9 Band Clamp Down-Swing Dual-Pull
    [B]Headset Cane Creek IS 110 Blue/B]
    Cranks Shimano FC-M770, DEORE XT 175MM 44X32X22
    Brakes Formula Oro Puro 160/160
Shift Levers Shimano XTR SLM970 Shifter Pods
Cassette Shimano CS-M770 DEORE XT 11-34T
    Chain Shimano CN-HG93
    Handlebar Ritchey WCS Carbon Rizer
Stem Syncros FL Stem 100 mm White
Saddle SDB I-Beam Formula FX White
Seat Post SDG I-Beam Micro Carbon

Wheels Bontrager Race X Lite with Dt Swiss Thru Bolt RWS axles
Tires Continental Race King Supersonic 2,2"

    Fork Fox F32 RLC 100mm
    Pedals Look Quartz carbon/cromo

I have most of changed items already and will sell the parts that came with SX kit.

    Any ideas about the build?

It will be a long wait... Luckily I already have a Mojo so it is not so bad..

Any other Tranny waiters out there?

I've been thinking about getting one myself. I'm thinking the SX kit and then just replacing with XTR stuff over time. A cool blue or red color would be nice.

I will be getting one when released (if the wife will let me) but will do it up since speed. If I can work the cash, some key components that I will not carry over from my current SS ride and will be getting for the Tranny... King hubs w/ Mavic UST rims, King headset, XT (or XTR) brakes and Endless cog.

You won't be able to use a King headset. It's integrated. King don't like integrated!

Cane Creek does some very nice offerings

Ya realized that after I posted it, just didn't bother fixing it... ha... love King headsets and hubs, oh well. My only experience with Canes have been really bad one on my first frame years and years ago, creaking and never seemed to set right, always used Kings after and have had 5-6 of them since, couple transferring to several different frames. Time to give Cane a try again ha

Can't decide the fork ad brakes

I have decided to buy a frame only because there are not many parts that I would use from the kit.. And I would have to sell most of the parts so I decided to go easier way..
    Frame will hopefully be white..

Here is the build I am now planning:

Rear Derailleur Shimano RD-M970, DEORE XTR SGS 9-Speed, Top-Normal
Front Derailleur Shimano XTR FD-M971 34.9 Band Clamp Down-Swing Dual-Pull
    Headset Cane Creek IS 110
    Cranks Shimano FC-M970, DEORE XTR 175MM 44X32X22
    Brakes Formula Oro Puro 160/160????
Shift Levers Shimano XTR SLM970 Shifter Pods
Cassette Shimano CS-M770 DEORE XT 11-32T
    Chain Shimano CN-7701
    Handlebar Ritchey WCS Carbon Rizer
Stem Syncros FL Stem 100 mm White
    Saddle Not decided yet
Seat Post Progress PG 601 (166gr)
Quick releaseDt Swiss Thru Bolt RWS
    Hub Dt Swiss 240s
    Rims DT Swiss 4.2D white
Tires Continental Race King Supersonic 2,2"
    Fork Not decided
    Pedals Look Quartz carbon/cromo

I'm not sure about the fork. I am considering Magura Durin and Rock Shox Sid Team '08. Any opinions??

For the brakes I have three choices: Formula Oro Puro( Currently on my Mojo, Mojo would get The Ones if I put Puros to Tranny), Magura Marta SL and Hope Mono Mini Pro. Hope's are the lightest. They are about the same price

I've been running the humble Cane Creek S2 on my Banshee Scirocco since 2005: the trails are not the smoothest and the headset has sometimes got went or dirty too. No issues.

Good to hear... understand why King doesn't do integrated just wish they did.

Now that Ibis has showed the colors of Tranny at Eurobike, it is time to lift this thread..

After a lot of thinking I ended up to a orange frame. I already have a Mojo nude carbon so I wanted Tranny to be a diffent color..

I have pretty much finalized the specs and bought most of the parts.

    Specs will be:
Rear Derailleur Shimano XTR RD-M972-SGS Shadow
Front Derailleur Shimano XT FD-M771 34.9 Band Clamp Down-Swing Dual-Pull
Headset Cane Creek IS 110 Red
    Cranks Shimano FC-M970, DEORE XTR 175MM 44X32X22
    Brakes Formula Oro Puro 160/160
Shift Levers Shimano XTR SLM970 Shifter Pods
Cassette Shimano CS-M770 DEORE XT 11-32T
    Chain Shimano CN-7701
    Handlebar Syntace DuraFlite
    Stem Ritchey WCS 4Axis White
    Saddle Fizik Gobi XM White
    Seat Post Thomson Masterpiece
Quick release Dt Swiss Thru Bolt RWS
    Hub Dt Swiss 240s White
Rims Stans 355 white(will have the rims powder coated)
Tires Continental Race King Supersonic 2,0"
Fork Rock Shox Sid Race 2009(Pushed)
    Pedals XTR

I hope that frame arrives soon...

    Here's the orange frame:

    That orange does look hot!
    (and the green looks cool)

Cannot justify another bike right now, even to myself

... will the Tranny survive a heavier rider? ...

Personally am not 100% convinced of the colors...

@mtok77: are you sure you want to combine a red headset with an orange frame? Also, might want to check out the new Formula R1 brakes that are coming out.

    Cheers

I'll have to think about that headset. Probably black is a better choice after all..

I have looked at the R1's. They are really interesting: Light and very powerful according the first tests. But there is nothing wrong with the Puros. They came from my Mojo which got Formula Mega's.

    Tranny 650b?

Is the Tranny 650b compliant, does anyone want to venture a guess?
