Mojo SL Custom Carbon Fiber Downtube Protector

Thought I would make myself a protector out of carbon fiber, came out pretty nice, and I have enough materials for many more.Mojo SL Custom Carbon Fiber Downtube Protector-image_10_1.jpegMojo SL Custom Carbon Fiber Downtube Protector-image_8_.jpeg

I would be very interested in something like a rear mudguard.

I'm currently using a highly modified, prototypical custom design version made from a precise, made to measure 2 litre plastic milk container (version 2.0).

I made two molds out of fiberglass and then made the final product out of 100% carbon fiber and epoxy resin

I don't think my quick responses are doing it justice. When I get to a computer I will post some more photographs that will hopefully explain/show exactly what it is

I started with making a mold of the downtube

then I used the carbon fiber and epoxy resin
(sat it on the bike to see if it fit)

Then I cut off the excess

Then I polished it up and put clearcoat overtop

It attaches to frame with the water bottle bolts

I want one of these. I have a Mojo SL as well. Sounds like you were considering taking offers. What kind of cost were you thinking about?

Don't want to piss on your chips but there is a company out there making the exact same thing already: Rockguardz - Real Carbon Fibre MTB Rock Protectors
I've got one on my SL. They do mudguards as well but don't seem to have a model specific rear guard listed which is something I would be interested in for the SL

Yes, I saw it on eBay but I wanted to make it myself. You are talking about a guard for the rear triangle near the bottom bracket?

    a few questions

    - how were you able to release the fiberglass off the downtube without any mess nor breaking the mold itself?
    - if i understand your pics correctly, you created the mold on top of the downtube, removed it and layed the fiber 'on top' of the mold you created?
