Looking for a new chainset for HD

    Hi Guys and gals

After a new chainset to replace my XTR 970.
Reason is that I want to run a 36/22 and bash and the XTR970 aren't compatible with that setup and the HD apparently.
I can't manage the XX1/ or whatever, I don't want XT XTR dual ring

I think possibly the new e thirteen TRS maybe the go. They sell them as 36/22 - not sure on the bash side nor HD FD compatibility.

Need low range 22. But would like 36 for faster sections. Running 10speed on a Zee mech (longer version) and don't want long cage rear mech.

I realise that these are pretty specific requirements

    Thoughts?

Do you want carbon or alloy arms

Id recommend 36/24 not 22, its a better dual ring gear ratio and for better changes between rings and less wear on chain rings and minimises chain suck, been theyre, easy for NZEd as well, ridden this heaps in SI high country no probs.

XOs are pretty cheap on bicycle.co.nz
just call em see if on can swap out the rings and add a bash
    or
Ive always been a RaceFace and Turbines are awesome, buy some RaceFace rings since these are so cheap, 36t/24t

Also RF are now making wide narrow teeth rings so if when you do say upgrade the rear to a single 11 spd you won't necessarily need to buy a new crank and ring for it, Ive always been a fan they're chain rings, but Ive only had the high end models.

or SLX are also an awesome groups, sell em in 22/36t combo

Not a fan of e13s tried em on my DH bike hated them creaked felt weird, went back to my RF FRs right solid and 3yo and quiet smooth as a mouse, put me off e13.

I am not sure I gain anything over the XTR I already have with those suggestions. I think I can do 24/36 no prob as I had that setup on my Mojo C.
    The E13 TRS+ is what I think I need with a new front D

Def if you're not after a new crank.

Easy to convert your XTR to 22 or 24/36 with a bash.

Will a TRS+ fit on the HD?
Are you talking full crank, or rings or guide or all.

Blackspire Superpro M970X rings on your existing crank with an e13 Turbocharger bash on the big ring spot

Played with that e13 crank on a Ripley demo bike back to back with a full XT cranked Ripley and was not a fan of the front shifting. It was ok but no way as nice as straight XT 2x10 rings

Saw your no XT/XTR 2x10 comment but think its really hard to beat Shimano rings for front shifting. Curious as to why no Shimano?

    Save some money simplify maybe!

How about going General Lee on the rear for extra climbing gear ratios run a 32t up front maybe a 34t with either

Wolf tooth components or as said earlier

    RaceFace option.

These new Hopes look sick too umm umm.

Rings not an issue. But looking to do 22/36 which prob means back to Middleburn rings that are superb or new chainset. LBS says my XTR 970 is not compatible with 22/36 on the HD

Anyone tried the E thirteen cranks? Thanks for the tips Mav but really wanting to keep a dual ring setup to have a bit wider range. I have never had FD issues really so not fussed about single ring up front. In UK where tracks weren't as steep I could get away with a single 36 up front. But here its is much steeper (or I am getting old and tired!) and I want the widest range possible without losing out on the enduro sprint flat out sections
