    Ibis Fans: Lopes @ Crankworx

I was up there yesterday doing a photoshoot for another purpose and happened to notice Lopes roll up on his HD. I thought of the Ibis fans here so I snapped a couple of pics. I didn't know he had switched damper sponsors.

Also notice the customized front tire - he cut every other knob from one row. Inneresting. Zoomed in and I guess he did the back too. I've always wondered if those tires would work well up there. I guess so.

This is the second time I have seen that different chainstay protector on an HD, Mountain Bike Actions test HD has the same one. Anyone know if this is a new protector and if it will be offered up for order from Ibis?

I am pretty sure it is just 3M Splicing Tape. The stuff is like really thick electrical tape. Cut to shape, peal and stick. I have been running in on my Quake all season. It has been used for years to protect chain stays. He only needs it on the top of the stay because he is running a shadow plus derailure. I may have to try it on the HD, I just got a XT shadow plus.
