    Hopey damper on SL

Hi Ibis folks, I have the opportunity to buy an ibis sl frameset locally. Lucky me, however, I run Hopey steering dampers on all my bikes, currently on my giant reign, which has the same zero stack headset bearing set as the mojo, (I think).
Anyhow, does anyone perceive any issues with one on a mojo?

    Thanks in advance, Kit

They make a zerostack model. I plan on using one on my Mojo HD build this spring. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work but I would also really like to see what other have to say. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I just found this thread... I'm going to contact Ibis and Hopey and see if anything has changed to make the setup work. Why exactly doesn't it work, anyone know? Does it have to do with the top tube shape or something?

It won't work. The Mojo SL doesn't use a zero stack headset, it uses an integrated headset. The cartridge bearings rest directly on the frame. There's no press-in cup so no way to attach your steering damper, short of epoxying the post to the frame.

Steering dampers went away when wide bars came out. Have you tried 28"+ bars?

Edit: I notice one of you is talking about the SL, and the other is talking about the HD. My comments are for the SL. The HD uses a standard 1/8" upper headset so it should be able to mount the damper.
    Keep the Country country.

Good thing I'm buying the HD frameset. Sorry KC, I assumed that that both Mojos used the same style headset.

Dampers never went away for me, & are more useful when shorter stems came out
Anyhow, guess I'll have to consider the HD?
    Thanks all...
