My wish list for Ibis if there is another Tranny.

    29in wheels
    Carbon
short chain stays (maybe not as short as my Honzo, but around 16.5), 68ish HA with a 120mm fork.
    Single speed compatible
Keep the removable stays so we can try the Gates Carbon Drive

gates doesnt work as is with the current tranny, needs a split in one of the stays or at the dropout which could be done pretty easily if they chose to...the slot machine at the BB may not make for the shortest chain stays though as it currently is designed

A split rear triangle would be great. Not just for single speed but for any of the geared hubs out there. I know they are heavy but they are a good option for commuting.

Don't need the Gates system, likely such a minority of potential customers want it. 29er yes!

My vote goes for 650 around a. 100mm fork. 650 so it will still fit in a suitcase without having to totally deflate tires and possibly lose a bead seat. Quick angles. If I wanted a downhill bike I wouldn't want a 3 pound carbon frame.

this....keeps the 'feel' of the travel bike... (use mine with an s and s machine case for no fee travel goodness!)

This. Has to be a 29er.

As an aside, I'm sure I saw an interview with Scot Nicol earlier in the year in which he alluded to multiple model launches this year. Anyone else remember this?

I don't think a 650b wheel will fit into a box that the airlines won't charge you for.

I'm under the impression that max dimensions are a combined 62 inches.

So the S&S case is 26x26x10=62.

To get at 27.5 inch wheel in a box you're looking at 27.5+27.5= 55 inches which only leaves 7 inches for the width. No way I could fit all of that **** in 3 less inches for the width.

So that being said...I'm happy with a carbon 650b bike that you can run either geared or single speed.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm tired of bikes that try to be all things to all people a la karate monkey. Geared, SS, disks, cantis, racks, no racks.

As a geared rider, I don't want no stinking kludgy eccentric BB, sliders, etc. But I can see how it makes sense from a manufacturer's perspective.

I agree. I want a good riding carbon race bike that fits in a suitcase.

If you take the tyre off, a 29er wheel is only 24"...
