Broke off a cable tie-down on my Ripley!

A zip tie came loose on the clevis of my Ripley. I went to replace it, and when tightening down the new one the tie-down popped right off! I didn't yank on it particularly hard, and I've installed hundreds of zip ties on all sorts of frames without ever having an issue.

I was kinda surprised to see that these appear to be glued on. I guess I thought they were co-molded somehow, though maybe that's not really possible.

I've contacted Competitive Cyclist, where I got the bike. Hopefully I can get a new clevis. I'm just glad this didn't happen to a tie-down on the main triangle. Be careful when changing your cables!

    Hi DrewBird,

That cable stop is bonded on after the molding process, from your description it sounds like the surfaces weren't prepped properly during the bonding process.

Feel free to email me and we can get you taken care of or you can work through Competitive.

Thanks Todd! I think CompCyclist has already initiated the replacement, and I don't want to end up with two clevises. And of course the bike is ridable in the mean time.

But I really appreciate your response. Ibis customer service is the best! One of the reasons I'm proud to be a 2-Ibis household. Thanks.
