    Anyone Know What This Is?

Was just checking out the Ibis Instagram pics and noticed the head-tube on the far right looks like a Ripley without internal routing.

All the other rigs (HDR, HD, SLR, SL) have a "bulge" on the top and bottom like the ride on the far left.

    Thoughts?

That looks like a Ripley head tube with a tape covering the internal routing holes.

It does look like there are indents in the shinier (taped?) area, but the indents appear to be higher up on the head tube than on the blue Ripley next to it. It does have a pike, which appeared as an option on the Ripley bike builder page a few days ago...
I hope Ibis will be releasing an updated version soon that has ironed out some of the cable routing.

Me too, but it's a big leap from a picture of a headtube to that.

I'm sort of conflicted about the potential of a Tranny 29. I had assumed the project had been shelved when it didn't come out a year and a half ago, assuming that Ibis found something they didn't really like about the bike. In those last couple of years, though, geometries have come quite a ways. It makes me wonder what exactly a Tranny 29er would add that the current crop of 29er hardtails don't already have.

Of course, that sounds exactly like the climate the Ripley launched in, and we all know that turned out to be worth the wait. So we'll just have to reserve judgment.

Yeah, there is a pretty large crop of suitcase ready 29er-travel-hardtails.

Isn't it more that longer offset forks (as spec'd on the Ripley) are more readily available?

Potentially. Although that black/green rig doesn't have a Pike like the original pic. Maybe that's not the only Black/Green Ripley with green grips out there?

I have some anecdotal evidence of someone riding a Tranny 29er last week, unless he's just jacking us around by entering a thinly disguised bike name that was obviously a Tranny 29er. His name would be familiar to y'all too.

I looked at his bio on the TD website, no mention of bike brand though there is a spot with the question.
A bicycle will take you to fantastic places....if you let it.

    Anyone Know What This Is?

Yeah, we're getting our rumors mixed up here people. The pic of the bikes in the car is just a ripley. But that doesn't help us with Jeff's bike , or the mysterious stealth bike that's been sighted.

It might just be a Ripley but looking closely it doesn't like a 29er and the back end looks different. Difficult to tell!

No doubt about it...Tranny 29er is coming. It also looks like a new full suspension bike too. I just hope they bring back the nude carbon like on the Mojo SL. I don't like the black on the Ripley or the HDR nearly as much.

Hey good find! Pleasantly simple password to guess... just sayin'.

New Tranny's lookin' good! I really dug the original 26 but never pulled the trigger (ended up on an HDR and am very happy of course). Interesting to see that he's not on Ibis carbon wheels, but maybe he's got a Stan's sponsorship to uphold?

Anyway, super cool to see the JB blue dot on an Ibis this year! Absolutely crushing it so far in his usual superhuman fashion despite some godawful weather. Go man go! Now if somebody can just convince one Mr Van P to go try the CTR we'll really have something to look forward to this summer. Who needs Lopes?

Not likely as the carbon weave top layer seems to be regarded as "old school" and isn't really necessary with the more modern layup techniques. I really liked the look on the SL as well, but I've come to love the newer uni-directional matte finishes a lot now.

Hmmmm, I've been thinking about a new 29er. Currently own a misfit Dissent singlespeed, but after riding the HDR it feels awful twitchy. A nice versatile frame that can go singlespeed or geared with modern AM-type geometry might fit the bill. This line of thinking is gonna cost me.

In any case, I'd really like to get a close up view of the rear end of that bike.

Looking at the belt drive pictures, I am guessing an eccentric BB. The rear end does not look like having horizontal dropouts, it looks like a through axle that holds the stays together.

I think the Tranny uses the slotmachine to tension the chain.

In the Jefe video, there's a picture where you can see the seatstay hinge needed for the slot machine.
