Anyone do a custom 741/941 build?

Thinking of going this route as well.

Did you have to use washers on your build?

Hans, are washers necessary and are they included with the rim purchase?

the rim only option got pushed back a month... i had ordered rims when it was first announced they would be available stand alone so purchased some king hubs..

when they got pushed back i cancelled the rim only order and bought a set of 741's from jenson will dismantle and build on king hubs with new spokes when my xl frame arrives..

that makes for an expensive set of rims!
what the ERD on those rims ? I might be interested in the hub+spokes as I build LB 38mm wheels.

Got exactly the same done by Wheelbuilder.com a few weeks ago. Sweet looking wheels! Still waiting on my XL frame.

I live in the uk; i was working in the caribbean out of florida a lot too...

i bought the wheels on the jenson offer, king hubs (in the UK) and it still cost less than a ibis wheelset does in the uk...

to ship the hub / spoke would cost more than they are worth.

yeah, I thought you said Jenson (in Cali where I am) was taking the wheel apart. You're right the 881/882 Novatec (what I believe Ibis uses) can be had for <$150 shipped so likely not worth the hassle.

The shop who was supposed to be building my wheels has encountered a problem, he didn't really explain it that well but something about the rim having a different type of nipple, the old nipples won't work with the new spokes,

What spoke / nipple combo are people running?

a little late of a reply but the reason the nipples won't work is they are Pillars designed for a spoke 2 or 3 mm longer in length than what a DTswiss or Wheelsmith nipple would use.
