Any small or XL Ripleys out there yet?

This is a follow-on from a previous thread; I have an XL on order, originally told May 24th but Tom from Ibis chimed in to say there were delays in first-run production of the S and XL sizes. Anyone got a S or XL yet, or heard updates on scheduled delivery? Tom/Hans, any updates from Asia? Dying to get my new ride, as I'm sure are many other folks as well!

I've got an XL on order as well. I called them yesterday and was told that the first batch should be arriving late June and should appear in shops first week in July.

I also seem to recall Hans saying the first shipment would not cover all outstanding orders. I ordered mine the first day geometry numbers were out out there, so I'm hopeful, but who knows.

I've got a small on order as well. I've heard that the smalls are due early July. Hope they can meet that time as I'm doing Breck Epic and would love to race it on the Ripley.

I hear that the first batch of XLs is not very big. I hope someone can update the forum about this. Soon.

From what I understand the smalls are in the shipment with the XL's that ibis just received. Pretty sure they are just prepping them for shipment, Aaron (ibis) said they'd most likely ship Monday. I have had an order in for an XL Ripley for about 3 weeks and I'm pretty sure I won't see one from this first batch. Hoping the second batch rolls in shortly.

CompCyclist has now changed the expected date for my XL from "late June" to "July 15th." Grrrr. Not sure I believe this though; they've basically been backing up the date in 1-2-week chunks since May. It was May 24th, then June 10th then June 20th, then end of June, now mid-July. I think these dates are coming from Ibis; I wish someone would give it to us straight...

My German dealer emailed me yesterday and told me that my XL Ripley frame should arrive to him next week (8-14 July). If that would be the case then I should hopefully have my frame here in Finland before the end of the month. I've ordered the frame in mid-March.

Originally I was told delivery in the second half of May but later on the dealer informed me that the expected delivery time was moved to July.

Seeing the first XLs starting to trickle to Europe I am waiting for my distributor to drop me a line. Expecting delivery sometime in August.

Blue XL shipped from California en route to my shop here in Denver. Xt build with fox 34 @140. If someone wants me to snag this for them let me know. The bike was originally for me but I can no longer afford it. Not a lot of these around. It should be here in Denver today or tomorrow.

So, my LBS ordered an XL blue Ripley frame for me on 3/17 (the day the geometry numbers were released), but now they are being told there weren't enough XL blue Ripleys in the order they just received, so I won't be receiving one until early September. If they are filling orders based on first come, first served it would stand to reason that anyone who ordered an XL blue frame after 3/17 won't be receiving one, provided they aren't getting one from dealer stock a la competitive cyclist, jenson, etc.

I was wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation or has heard something similar?

My black Ripley was ordered beginning of May from CompCyclist. As of today they said they will be arriving July 15th, and that they're receiving 9 of them, all of which are already pre-ordered (my order being one of these.) On a previous thread someone from Ibis chimed in to say that the first run of XLs would not be enough to cover pre-orders; I don't know how they decided how to distribute the XLs from this first run, but maybe if yours is a smaller shop they got shafted? Bummer if that's the case, you'd think it'd be first order in/first order out.

Just picked up small Ripley from LBS (SportsBasement in Sunnyvale, Ca). Ordered two weeks ago and pleasantly surprised to get one in the first batch. It was just received at the shop right after I was there checking on the status at lunch time today.

July 15th as come and gone, and I'm still waiting on my XL Ripley from Competitive Cyclist. New date: July 29th. Anyone else got an XL? I was told I had dibs on one of the first batch, but apparently they haven't arrived yet. I'm surprised, as I was told CompCyclist would get some of the first ones to come in...

Call mojo wheels in Denver and buy the xl that I ordered. Ask for Bob and tell him Jon sent you.

Hey, I'm very tempted, but as I recall you got it built with a 140 up front. I really want a 120 & lighter build, as this is going to be more of an endurance racer/long backcountry ride machine. (I have a Bronson for burlier stuff and park days.) If it weren't for that fork I'd do it!

Heavier than expected. Is that including the rear axle?

The weight doesn't include the rear axle which weighed 73 g. Yes, the weight is slightly higher than expected.

I have a XL on order and the dealer tried the 156's and they did not clear. Ibis wanted it back. So I am not sure what the actual problem is but based on these responses perhaps some QC issues? So I am waiting for a new frame....

My XL has cleared customs & will be at my long suffering shop Monday.

Building up with XX1 so am hoping we got a good one that clears the 156 arms.

This is the only XL heading to Australia so there is no way I'm sending it back to wait again.

There's a Blue XL frame at Mojo Wheels. Ask for Bob, he'll set you up. I ordered this frame, canceled the order and now they are stuck with the frame. Being mostly a DH shop they want to get it out of there quickly. Hit them up,(303) 986-8216, I'm sure they'll hook it up.

edit: Sorry for the conflicting posts. I thought they had ordered me a 140 XT build but it turns out it was a frame only. Hopefully this helps one of you out.

Any small or XL Ripleys out there yet?

I still haven't recieved my XL frame in blue, not even a delivery date has been set, just a preliminary maybe-date that has been pushed back four times. The Norwegian distributor talks about QC-issues at the factory, and that this has messed up the inventory planning and deliveries from Ibis. The idea was to get a bike for the summer, now it seems so far away.

I signed up for the Ripley more than two years ago, confirmed my order in May and have all the parts for the build sitting on my desk. I have an old race 26 HT as an intermediate bike, and that gets less and less fun as the trails get increasingly greasy.

That the wait for something so good can make the joy of going riding fade so quickly is a screwed up realisation for me.

This situation is extremely frustrating as I have no idea when I will get the bike. With the going rate of progress I probably will not get the Ripley before the season is over. Reading about people's Ripley rides and their praise just makes it worse.

But - keep the tales of joy coming! I am sure I'll get mine too. Eventually.

I also feel your pain simenf.

When the Mojo SL came out I ordered size XL frame right away and had to wait for 10 months for the frame to arrive. When the Ripley was introduced in Eurobike two years ago I started to wait for it to be finally released. I started collecting parts for it in January and when Ripley finally was released in March 2013 I ordered my size XL frame right away. I've had mine for about 1,5 months now but the wait was long.

Got my XL frame and Syntace MX35 wheels last week!

Still missing the Syntace handlebar (unbelievable that the importer couldn't hold on to one for me) and the 58mm BCD Middleburn RS8 X-type crankset wouldn't slip over the bottom bracket. Prob going for a X01 crank. So no rides for now, and prob not this season.
