This kind of boutique bike rarely is discounted. Best option is used if you dont want to pay full price, but they are few and far between at the moment.

I think it's still too close to the release of the bike. Give it another 6mos+ and you might see some movement.

Do you have a good relationship with your local shop? Work something out with them if they are able to order Ibis.

Backcountry has $250 in credits when you buy the hdr and 5% cash back if you have a Discover card. Prior to Dec. 31st the promo was 10% cash back along with another 5%.

Actually a pretty good deal can be had. About 12% off.
    Two places to call:
    Tryon bikes in Rochester, NY.
    And Bike Company (bikeco.com)

I just got an HDR frame with the CCDBair CS. I got the same quote from both.

I think you can get 10% off without too much searching. These two places offered a bit more with the added bonus of being great to deal with. Both are awesome shops.

@join123 Great info. Thank you. Do you have a good contact at Bike CO? do they offer that discount on other frames (Pivot) ?

Ilyam3: Try Nate at Bike CO. He was great to deal with.
I'm not sure what they can do about Pivots because the HDR was the only frame I was interested in. But it's worth asking him for sure.

Definitely talk to Nate and Kara. They will take good care of you. I got my Mach 6 from them and my buddy ordered one on Wednesday. If you want an introduction PM me.

Some places won't have you paying tax either, with can be a fairly big chunk of change for a bike like this.

You probably talked to the wrong person. The manager and the owner will make sure you get the best price. Give them a call and ask for mark the owner

He walked in, I seriously doubt any store is going to risk the crap they'd get into not charge tax for an in-store purchase. Online if a different matter and changes state to state.

The HDR 26" also comes in Special Blend kit now, and they are all on the Ibis web site.
