    Are all HD's the same?

    Hi All,

I have done a quick search but couldn't see anything so I hope this topic has not been bought up before.

My question is as per the title, Apart from getting the frame in either the 160 or 140mm versions, are they all the same?

As in the last few years worth?

I am thinking of getting an older version HD140 (White coloured one with Red links) but, I am unsure if I am missing out on any little tweaks that have been made over the years.

    Cheers in advance.

There were a few frame changes starting in July 2011:

    • Rear axle new 142x12 (before 135x12)
    • Direct mount front derailleur (side of seat tube)
    • more seat tube clearance, due to both the new cable routing and a flat "channel" in the seat tube

To add to that, the actual HD 140 and 160 frames are identical except for the replaceable aluminum "limbo chips" and the size of the shock. If you wanted, you could buy the chips from Ibis and a 8.5x2.5 shock and convert it to a HD160.
