    650b HD & pike

650b converted hd,160 mode shimmed to around 150mm (rear tire depending), currently running 2012 float 160 mm (26" wheel fork). thinking about pike 160mm for 27.5. what change can i expect geometry wise? hoping for better performance and tire clearance.

The Pike is 10 mm longer travel for travel. It will make the bike ~.5 degrees slacker.

so to keep current geo 150mm would be better option? maybe try 160 and reduce to 150 if i dont like.

Yes, I run a 170 Lyrik and love the geo which would be the same as your 160/275 Pike. If you want to keep it the same run a 150 Pike.

Yes buy the 160 Pike and if its too slack, put the 150mm air sleeve in it. Fairly cheap fix.

    brankulo,
what front 27.5 tire are you running on your Float 160mm (26" version) ?
I run trail kind 2.2 (used to have 2.4) which are big tire, and I'm guessing it will not fit in the 27.5 size...

I have the same fork and been thinking of trying a 27.5 pike as I like what I've read on it, which would give me the option to try 27.5 later down the line... can't run 27.5 in back as I have the original HD tight rear triangle (not worth replacing with new HDR version) and old seat tube (135x12 original HD).

Option I'm considering is pike (27.5 ?) and maybe a 27.5 front wheel. Figure I can probably keep 26" wheel at first...

i currently run hans dampf 2.35 front. used to run trail king 2.2 rear back in days when my hd was 26" and really liked it. now i keep coming back to neomoto2.3 for rear tire.
i am at the point that i am pretty happy with how my float is set up. but i f i could sell it for decent $$ i would like to try pike.

so you have that tire in 27.5 on a 26" float 160/36 and it fits ?

looks like a meaty tire... I wouldn't think a Trail King 2.2 27.5 would fit (I really like TK volume and grip so far, I use a more dedicated rear tire like Ground Control for the back).

it does fit, i am running it on flows. not whole lot of clearance but our trails are pretty dusty most of the time so it is not big of an issue. at one point i ran trail taker 2.4 which i think had even less clearance but it started loosing side knobs so i dumped it.
