2x10 vs 3x10 on Mojo HD

I have been running a 2X10 28T/40T along with a 11T/36T Cassette. This is somewhat painful to climb on at my level. I got me some 38/26 Chainrings to use with my 2X10 cranks but read somewhere this was not compatible. Question is tho, why would the 38/26 not work but the 3X10 appears to be compatible and has a 42/32/24 chainring? Whats the best most affordable way to go to an easier climbing gear?

I have a 3x10 and a 2X10 Crankset, just need to figure out what works. The option of the 24T Granny is what I'm shooting for.

What matters is the bold circle diameter (BCD) = the distance between the bolts that bolt on the chain rings.

What crank do you have? SRAM sells these 24/38 conversion kits:

    Correct body weight: m-10 pounds

2x10 vs 3x10 on Mojo HD

I'm more leaning toward using the 3x10 ditch the large ring and replace with a bashguard in hopes to be able to use 34middle And 22 small.
    Anyone running this setup?

I'm even fine with my XT 2x10; rear 11/36, front 38/24

2x10 vs 3x10 on Mojo HD

So I wonder why Ibis says the 38/26 2x10 is incompatible

    We the people ...

I'm not too much into the technical details of chain line etc. I asked the LBS for this setup (for the same reasons you mentioned) and they built it.

I run XTR triple, with 24/36 rings and the large ring ground down as a bash.
Rings shown in the picture are 24/32, I have since gone to 24/36.

Those who know, ride a Mojo AND a Mojo HD.
