    1 X 9 Speed Conversion

Can anyone recommend a single speed front conversion for a XTR crank set?

I'm looking to drop my front derailuer and run just the middle ring. I'm concerned with (2) things:

Chain falling off and chain rub on the front sprocket guides from using both extreme gears (1 and 9)

    Thanks for any advice

    David

    Hi!
I am using now E13 SRS+ which seems to run fine with 970 XTR crankset.

Salsa ring dinger and blackspire inner chain plate - simple and effective.

If using any of these, is there any noticable chain rub when using both extreme gears?

Tried the Blackspire Stinger first, but it didn't do a damn bit of good. The MRP system 3 works great - I use it with a Salsa bashguard.
Yea, it'll rub a bit and the rollers will likely get chewed but nothing out of the ordinary.

I use the MRP 1.x. Works great. The trick though is to run a spacer against the frame then the MRP then the BB cup, which is opposite of the instructions, otherwise it will interfere with the lower link.

The Paul won't work with the mojo.

What type of front ring are you using on your XTR cranks? It doesn't look stock.

    Thanks,

I'm running a Renthal chainring. They're relatively new to the MTB scene but well known for motocross stuff.

Not to say you can't just use the middle XTR ring, I did for a while with no issues.

Where did you get the red chain ring mounting bolts?

    Nice looking

Where did you buy your red chain ring bolts? What length works with the ZTR crank set?

I know it is a little pricey, but I have never had my chain come off. Several chain ring sizes avaiable also. Check out www.widgit.com.au
