Ride Hilo Side this Saturday (15 Sept)?

    Hey Hilo Side,

I was thinking I'd come out that side (from Waimea) and ride some of your guys' sweet trails. I was thinking Kulani and meet there around 08:30? Who's in? Also, I have a request (favor). A friend of mine is visiting from CO, he brought his pedals and helmet (and stuff) but needs a lg/med framed bike. Anyone got one he can borrow (rent from you) for the day? That would be awesome.

Anyway, thought I'd start the solicitation now so that we can get it together for Saturday.

Jonas, if you see this, we can carpool from Waimea if you're interested. Drive out, ride, have some lunch and then drive back to Waimea.

    Gmats,
I would be down for that ride and can provide my old Spec. FSR xc if your friend is interested.

It's a large and can be set up with either a 100 & 70 mm stem.

Sweet, OK, I think I'll leave it up to him but this looks promising.

OK, will be there. We're a go on the bike, my friend said probably with the 100mm stem.

Aikane, where and when should I meet you? Meet at Kulani?

Yeah, at Kulani is fine. Inside at the quarry/shooting range or outside off Stainback if you don't want to drive in.
Would your friend prefer nevegals or rocket ron's? The ro-ro's are just the plain orc compound, though. Also, I don't have a pedal wrench, so you may want to bring one if he needs it. I will have allen wrenches, shock pump and a floor pump to make the other necessary adjustments.

I'll bring pedal wrench. Meet you in the quarry area. I would say what ever tires are on there already is good. Thanks tons for all your support. More awesome Hawaiian Hospitality to show our guests. Looking forward to riding with you Saturday a.m. I might be just a few late as I know I'm going to rendezvous with "Jay" somewhere in Hilo before heading up to the trails.

    Thanks again,
    g

Haha, yeah I have to catch up on my playlist now. Play with washing machine, play with lawn mower, play dog washer.....

The ride was great. Gmats wanted to ride the entire trail system. I punked out on Super Rooter, but did all the rest. That's the most of Kulani I have riden in one ride. Sorry no pics though, my camera still isn't working right. I'm sure G. will have some later.

    Wink

Yeah, Aikane, the ride was great. Jonas, thanks for coming out and riding with us, we showed some Hawaiian Hospitality to a fellow rider from Colorado. Good times.

Aikane's an awesome host. He not only provides a loaner bike, he provides personal service. When Jay had a flat tire, Aikane changed it out for him. Too bad you didn't join us for lunch. Was good food, good times.

You guys have a great rest of the weekend!!

    Aikane you DA MAN!

I'm stoked that Hilo decided to be super sunny for your bike ride today. I was sweating in the hot hawaiian sun at work. The whole time I was thinking about you guys. I'm glad you folks had fun.

BTW, how were the trail conditions? I almost wanted to ride Kulani this afternoon, but I ended up working later than usual....again.

Mazu, the trails were a bit wet, slippery and muddy in a few places. However, it was sunny and very humid so made for some dripping wet riding. Fun times. Great trails, great riding. Only bummer part was there wasn't more turn out. Next time.
