    Upset Hawaii Pro Am Refunds

Has anyone had problems getting their refunds from the Hawaii Pro Am race that was canceled? I'm out $3,900 bucks just for the entry and these guys have disappeared. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say, reading the refund/cancellation policy on their site sets off huge red flags. It talks of the promoter's right to set a future date of their choosing for cancelled event and the racer must be available such date.

Somehow I doubt if any future date gets set. I do beleive people have been had.

    Thanks PineappleBob

Thanks PineappleBob, I really wanted to believe in Chris, even rode with him at Kualoa, but when you talk to Chris, the answer will be:

    1)'Ramsey closed the company'
    2) Chris listed himself as an Officer of Tournament Vacations
    http://www.hawaiiproam.com/contact,
    3) Sold us the entry
    4) Check was sent to the address that Sprint reports as his cel number and
    5) refuses to provide any info on Ramsey Brown, Tournament Vacations etc.

Of course this is the same group that is doing the $250k Fish n Chips tournament in Nassau - http://www.thefishandchips.com/

Again, maybe a local call would help him out...as it would greatly benefit him in the long run.

    Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by red flags. I've seen that policy for other events including the BC Bike Race.

The BC Race is no shady race either.

The contacts section of the ProAM lists several people prominent in the Hawaii cycling circle so I'm incline to believe that this venture was not a intentional fraudulent scheme. If people do end of up losing money than a fraud has occurred and should be investigated by the appropriate authorities.

Since the OP MAILED his check than I would contact the United State Postal Inspection Service. Can't stonewall the FEDs since they'll throw you in jail.

This is a long shot but might be worth it. The Lieutenant Governor who is running for Governor this fall has just announced that the State of Hawaii should form a Sport Commission to attract sporting events to the State of Hawaii. The last thing the State needs is bad publicity about sporting events in Hawaii so you might get some help from his office. At least if you contact his office you'll talk to a live body.

Both are great ideas we are pursuing. As far as prominent people, now, a detective (State) in Washington is involved with our case, specifically with those mentioned. We'll keep posting as we move along.
