    What model and year?
    Whats up everyone,

Picked this bike up last summer from a good friend and excellent rider, said he got it from one of the guys at Haro a while back but was a bit small for him to ride being 6'4". I have looked up the model from the decals but everything i find says it is a full suspension bike. It is a very light rig with a bit of carbon. The decals say "werks xls three point zero"
and also has a decal on the back of the seat tube that says "ed tuned". I am a beginner so please bear with any ignorance i may have. Thanks for the help.

Depends on which shock. Rockshox Ario r?

In general, you should use 25 to 30 % sag.

    I mean compression tunes http://www.bike-components.de/downlo...ence_chart.pdf

RS Monarch f.e. has 3 tuning options low, mid and high. What suits Shift frame most?

I think you should look for a progressive shock, i.e. one with a small volume. I put a Rock Shox MC3.3 into my Haro X1 and I'm very happy with it - works smoothly without bottoming out. Afriend of mine is using the same in his Haro Shift and he's ok with it as well. Also, a Swinger Air (or Coil) will be fine.

    ---
A propos my velo ;) My X1 changed a bit since 2011 when I bought the frame. The one thing that didn't change (except the frame) are the forks. Specification below:

    Frame: Haro Extreme X1, 5/6 travel, size: S (16), 2004
Rear shocks: Rock Shox MC 3.3 190x50mm
    Forks: Marzocchi Z1 Light ETA, 2006, 150mm
    Fender: Marzocchi
    Headset: Amoeba Hussar
    Spacers: some carbon stuff

Cranks: Shimano Hone 20/32, 175mm, + Accent Hollowtech II bearings
    Bash: Shaman Racing
    Suport: Przerzutka tył: Sram X.5
    Front der.: Sram X-5
    Chain: Sram PC-971
    Casette: Sram X.7
    Pedals: HT AN18SS
    Shifters: Sram X.5 (front) / X.9 (rear)

Front wheel: Unknown (27mm inner width) + A2Z DHFF hub
Rear wheel: Alexrims FR30 + Novatec D024SB hub + DT Swiss RWD
Front tire: WTB Weirwolf 2,3 comp
Rear tire: WTB Prowler 2,3 comp
    Tubes: whatever, ca. 200g/piece

    Brakes: Formula Oro K18
    Rotor F: Hayes 203mm
    Rotor R: Avid 185mm

Bars: Cloud Wings of Pray, 750mm
    Stem: Bontrager Earl 50mm
    Seat: BBB BSD-08
    Seatpost: Gravity Dropper Classic
    Grips: Lizard Skins Moab

    ---
I want to change rotors, stem, maybe the bars. Oh, and the rear hub for sth lighter. And the front rim for Alexrims FR30 as well - they rock! :D

I am also new to MTB and purchased a 29" Flightline Trail two months ago. One of my pedals busted with about 75 miles on it so that was the first thing I upgraded. Aside from the Fort platforms, the stock components have been enough for me so far. Loving this bike.

Looks like I'm a bit late to the party :)

Here's my 12 year old Haro. Wouldn't trade it for any other bike!!!

This is an older pic. I have since upgraded both suspensions to FOX and other smaller stuff. This is a 2001 bike and still going strong!!!

I'm not a big Haro expert, but from the Haros I owned the difference is in the composition. The higher the model - the better the components it uses. Other then that it's similar in its frame and geometry.
