    My Mary XC build

Well the time has come to build me a new bike.

I have some relatively new parts that I removed from my previous bike before I sold it.

This is what I have so far.
    New parts

    Used parts

I ordered a pile of parts online as well as some vital parts from my LBS and i will post those up as soon as I get them.

All of this will be followed by some actual building so stay tuned.

Time for a little update. (very little)
The parts have been slow coming in but I did get a couple if items I have been waiting for.
    I got some Kenda small block 8's in a 29 x 2.1
    I also got some grips.
They are plain old Oury grips in a muddy brown. Cheap and they come in nearly any color you could possibly want.

We went to the LBS today and bought my girlfriend a new bike so while I was there I asked about the parts I ordered.
They are due to arrive Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully I can get this thing together by next weekend.

I also decided my pedals were a bit too heavy and way too slick for my liking so I ordered some Crank Brothers Candy SL pedals from last year.
I thought it was time to step up to a clipless set up

I have heard the talk about them not being too durable on the rocks but not too many rocks around here so I think they will be ok.

    Thats all for now.

    Until next time...

Finally, after two weeks of waiting I got my seat post.
So since none of my other parts showed up at the bike shop I decided to slap it on.

I also got the pedals I ordered on saturday

The bike shop said my parts should come in tomorrow.
All I need is my fork and bottom bracket and I can nearly put the whole thing together.

I am having the shop lace up my wheels and they think they can have them done by the end of the week.

Hell I may be riding this thing this weekend but I am not going to hold my breath.

Got some more parts today so I put some on until I ran out of things to do.

Borrowing some cable housing cutters so I can finish off the shifters.

Then I will have a bike tech friend of mine look everything over before I cut the steer tube.

secure the brake lines and it should be all ready to mount the wheels and make some adjustments and ride.

The wheels should be done Saturday.

Some may notice that the Clipless pedals are gone.
Since I use one bike for all sorts of things I made up my mind that I wanted a good set of platforms instead of Clipless.

So I will be picking up a set of Canfield Brothers Crampon platforms.

I suppose at this point it is time to list some of the specs.

    Frame: 2010 Haro Mary XC
    Fork: Surly Karate Monkey
    Headset: Cane Creek S-3
    Rims: WTB LaserDisk Trail 29
    Hubs: Shimano XT
Tires: Kenda Small Block 8 29x2.1
    Shifters: Shimano LX
    Front Deraillure: Shimano SLX
Rear Deraillure: Shimano Deore (It's pretty old and beat and should be replaced soon)
    Crank: Older Shimano XT
    Stem: Thomson Elite
    Bars: Easton Monkeylite DH
    Grips: Oury
    Seat post: Thomson Elite
    Saddle: WTB RocketV
Front brake: Avid Code 5 with 203mm Avid G3 rotor
Rear brake: Avid Elixir 5 with 203mm Avid G2 rotor
    Pedals: Canfield Brothers Crampon
    Chain:?
    Casset: Shimano XT CS-M750

    I think that covers everything.
I will get a completed out on the trail type shot as soon as my wheels are done and it stops raining.

    Until next time.

I had probably had a drink or two at that point so that glass was probably more full.

    Well it is almost done.
It turns out my rear derailleur cable is about 3 inches too short so I have to wait until Monday to get one.
As such I didn't bother to run the front derailleur either.

Other than that and getting some new pedals it is all ready to go.

I also tossed on a vital part of any mountain bike... A bottle opener.

I will get it wrapped up soon and get some shots in some better light and post it up in the Haro bike roll call thread.

Next on the list is a headlight and tail light.

    Until next time...
