    Is it me or the Extreme X7 frame really looks like an R1 frame?

    No, really. The shock mount position changed but.. all the rest are the (same?)...
    I don't believe that humans can change. Seen it, though.

    Two completely different bikes. The only thing that makes the Shift series frames the "same" as the Extreme X7 frame is the fact that they are single pivot.

    I own both a 2008 R3 and an X7. The downtubes are about the same as well as the pivot area and bearing, i think they are the same. The vertical tube goes from the pivot to the shock is actually the same size. The rear pivot "chainstays" are just slightly larger diameter and the headtube is larger and longer, the headtube weld is longer too.

    All the shifts share the same frame.

    They look really similar besides those differences the other main ones are the pivot is angled more downward on the X7 vs the shift.

    They may be different but I wouldn't doubt you could put one pivot onto another frame, if you really wanted to.
